Best gearing (Alex) for a Scholar?

At present I haven't even rolled on item drops from Alex because I am not sure what to do with it.

What I am going to do? I know for a fact I am going to get the caster robe/hat from the Esoteric set because it looks AMAZING.

So that being said I don't know what the best investment of Alex tokens is going to be at present... I don't think looting the chest piece token or hat piece tokens is a good idea. I am willing to hold off on a chest piece for 3 weeks while I wait for the esoteric set chest piece, I am willing to do that. Like if I save up for chest piece at this point in time I know I will replace it. I know that for a fact.


Any thoughts/suggestions?

Currently, I'm rolling on Bolts (Accessories), Chains (Belt), Lens (Head), and Cranks (Hands) until I see the stats of the Esoteric/Savage gear; they're the cheapest pieces, and are attainable before Alex Savage, whereas the Chest is not. Luckily, most of those pieces have Crit, which is still what I'm gearing towards for SCH right now.

That's exactly what I'm doing right now. I'm trying to capitalize on the abundance of Piety on gear for both my WHM, AST while looking for crit gear. 'Cause I like my crits~

I got neck, earrings, and hat because I'm still of the crit mentality, even if adlo doesn't see as much use these days. Next priority is the pants.

I made a thread asking if the stat scaling changed much ever since ARR, because I was thinking of sticking to ilvl180 gloves/belt, and I'm not sure how much of a difference determination makes these days in relative stats, while both the 190 gloves, and belt give det, unlike the 180s from hunts. I'm still likely to stay with the 180s for crit because I know healing for ~50 extra HP per cast is nearly unnoticeable in the bigger picture, but Is it still 6 det = ~1 mind?

Through just general conversation on TS, I recall someone reading somewhere off reddit that it's 8 det = 1 stat, 8 crit = 1 stat. I have no sources though, unfortunately.

All of them. No alternatives at i190 and (MND, VIT, mdef, pdef) >> Secondaries. If you are going for buy order the legs > crit pieces > chest > everything else. Personally I'd try to shed as

Personally I'm doing legs/head/feet in the first two weeks and then evaluate after Esoterics gear comes out. You could make a pretty convincing argument for neck and earrings before feet, but I'm opting for the Def/MDef/Vit for early progression.

Just as a reminder to everyone at this point while I too would probably upgrade pieces of gear with crit on them first/get gordian pieces with crit first I would not however choose to leave a piece of lower ilvl gear to gain crit.

All secondary stats have been made about 1/3rd as effective as they used to be meaning the trade off between mind and crit has to be extremely lopsided in crits favor to make this worthwhile.

I'm not sure exactly what the new weights are but I really doubt that it's 8:1. I'd say something closer to 12-15:1.
