Will the Lightning or Shantotto events ever return?

Lightning returned (hehe) once already. So it's quite possible it will come back again. Not sure about Shantoto... that was something regarding an FFXI promotion.

It's possible, but doubtful. The FFXIII and FFXI crossover events (along with the Dragon Quest crossover event that also took place around the same time) were actually to celebrate milestones or anniversaries in their respective games (the FFXI event was to coincide with the eleventh anniversary of FFXI service, and the FFXIII event was cross marketing connected with the original Japanese and US/European releases of Lightning Returns - the DQ event was similarly to celebrate Dragon Quest Online's first anniversary of service. As these milestones have long since passed, it's highly unlikely SE will bring them back again.

But then, I said the same thing about that we'd probably never see a FFVII Remake in our lifetimes so... stranger things have happened.

They brought all three of those events back at the same time during last year's anniversary event though there were no corresponding milestones.

I really hope they don't make the events return. I enjoy the fact that I was around for them, so I have some glamour gear/minion that not everyone has. Makes it feel unique and kind of special since I was there at the time.

I suppose if people MUST have the rewards, I agree with the cash shop option.

I had recently started playing when the last lightning returns event was going on even got the last package for the final quest from the fate however due to the level req to turn in being 45 I was never able to get the last part of the gear. I tried real hard to get to 45 and ended up being only a day short which sucks I wanted to complete this gear set :/

Probably because it wouldn't make sense with FFXII and FFXIV's lore. If it were just glamour stuff, sure, but characters themselves? It would need to make sense for both games (and Ivalice is not on Hydaelyn).

they should just use a "seasonal event" each year not like the common ones with irw influence, but a Final fantasy influence, like, the date where the franchise in general annyversary, and with that make those crossover related events make an appearance and each year implementing new one.

A non, xmas, new year, valenine etc seasonal event but franchise seasonal event. Would be nice.
