Fending vs. Slaying accessories at this point in the game

You definitely want atleast ONE slaying accessory in the ring slot. Anything after that is all preference. Personally I go full fending with one slaying for progression then slowly start swapping out to either meet dps checks or when we get it on farm.

i always invested time into pentamelding str into my vot accessories for pld in 2.0, the extra damage+bigger block/parry damage reduction was good. now str only affects damage and not the amount of damage mitigated by parry/block so i tend to just use tank stuff this time around

I solo queued each floor, and cleared all 4 of them without any issues. Well, had some problems with my first group on F3, second time was a one shot.

My schedule doesn't allow me to have a static anymore, so I usually just solo queue or hop in PF groups as I see them.

No issues? You caused multiple wipes on turn 2 due to getting squashed. Might be because you weren't popping cooldowns at proper times but who knows. <3

That said, I roll with some slaying and STR spec with no issues. I just try to keep around 14-15k HP. More than enough.

Dang, #shotsfired. I went full Fending because having 16k+ solo is hilarious, but I'll have to look into investing in some Slaying accessories -- This thread is pretty eye opening. Good thing my other main is a DRG!

I don't have any intention of getting into a pissing contest with some random player I was DF'd with, but since you felt the need to call me out, I will respond accordingly. You may wish I hadn't.

First, it was hours after the content was added. Any wipes I may or may not have caused during any floors were NOT a result of using Slaying accessories instead of Fending. They were caused by doing brand new content the day it's released and learning as I go. There is a HUGE difference between the 2. Learn it.

Second, you yourself stated that you try to keep your own HP in the 14-15k range because it's "more then enough". True! My HP during Alexander was 14,449. Almost exactly between what YOU stated was enough.

Any further comments, cupcake? I hope not, as I said I'd rather not get into a pissing contest with some random who is wrongly placing blame on another player. I have no issues taking blame for the wipes, I'm sure I caused my share LEARNING THE CONTENT ON DAY ONE, but I did NOT cause wipes by using Slaying accessories instead of Fending. Period.

You can do all 3.0 content in full slaying, only savage will require more vitality, and even then crafted will probably be the best way to go.

Slaying accessories are amazing for anything solo. I had predominantly slaying accessories while leveling hence why my bracelet is i130 and I don't believe in ilvl bloat.

Aside from one STR and one VIT ring, use the rest either way as you see fit

I use a mix of fending and slaying when killing trash. On bosses, I'm in full slaying. I've had no problems thus far in 3.0. I am stocking up on V materia as well. Waiting to see if we'll get better crafted accessories in 3.1 or even when Savage releases.

How many PLDs spec str and use str accessories? Do little of the ones I see do it because they are worse than WAR for it (squishier)? Or is it just something some PLDs don't do?
