Hi,What coil was: <-- Please bring back THIS!
- Most turns (except the last one) take approx. two or three weeks (medium-skill raid group, two raid days per week)
- Attention to detail, reading guides, communication (most use TS) required
- One bad player would usually kill the whole raid (at least in T5, T9, and T13)
- Everyone has to learn and improve
- Although difficulty was high, everyone had what I call a "fair chance".
- Halfway decent gear (iLvl around 115) was enough to give FCoB a try (pre-DF)
Although I never got the chance the taste Coils, but if your depiction is correct, then...
thanks for never bringing it back, SE.
Regards,
A very casual player
i actually found it was alot harder then Coil 1, from a DF groups if you did it in 8 man premade then yes id imagine it was easy but to coordinate pugs is alot harder and found Raid/floor/Turn 3 was a shock due to adding mechanics from Final coil which many had not done before or got to.
Number 4 raid is also quite hard but i feel its scaled to ilvl 190 gear and being in law gear is the bare amount to just scrape by.
I feel like everyone is missing OP's point... Alex NM is too easy (considering they claimed it would be on a similar level as coil + echo, and harder than EX primals - it's not), and Alex Savage is probably going to be way too hard. I cleared t13 a few weeks before HW, and the difficulty was just right at that point for me. Savage will likely be way way harder than that.
So it basically feels like there's nothing for mid-level people. Either stuff you can mostly faceroll in DF, or really hardcore savage.
I don't think OP is being unreasonable. We were hoping for something in-between, but that's not what we got.
Oh no... Beware as a whirlwing of rage will be headed towards you, kicking and screaming how easy room 4 is...i actually found it was alot harder then Coil 1, from a DF groups if you did it in 8 man premade then yes id imagine it was easy but to coordinate pugs is alot harder and found Raid/floor/Turn 3 was a shock due to adding mechanics from Final coil which many had not done before or got to.

Me and my group got it nailed to 3%! Will attempt again later!
But to add to it, I agree. Turn1 vs Floor 1, Turn 1 was a lot easier - I feel the boss in floor 1 had more things the dps, tanks and healers had to worry about than the first one. I really think people don't realize that they GOT BETTER and that it's not the content that is getting easier...

Maybe I haven't made my point clear enough. For the audience it was made for, i.e. players to whom story is more important than fighting, Alex Story Mode is perfectly fine. I have no problem with its existence.
What I have a problem with is the difficulty planed for Savage. Yes, we do not know exactly how difficult it will be. My fears are that it will be so much more difficult than FCoB (which means: Second Coil Savage when it came out) that "medium-skilled players" like me won't be able to do it, even with the time I can afford to put in.
I joined 3 different parties last night and never beat floor 1. I am i177 and 2 of my friends were i175. This is not as easy as people think. And listening to the tank complain how easy it is was very annoying when he just had to pick up one of the two main mobs and hold it.
I think the 'raid community' is missing the point here (would have quoted but, oh my god so many maligned comments... not gonna) is that the vast majority of players (you know, the 'filthy casuals') didn't touch Coil until it was on the Duty Finder, something that coincided the addition of Echo, and even then still largely avoided it until the 'raid community' had their fill. Square's metrics don't lie, we just hate running 'raid community' content because the 'raid community' acts like they're Gods' Gift to Eorzea. It's not that we can't run the dungeons, we just don't like the 'raid banter' that all too often pops up. "Oh come on, it's not that bad." Personal experience disagrees. Even today, Turn 1, ADS, High Voltage is ignored with healers expected to, "Tough it out." like a party-wide Paralysis isn't even a thing... I lost count of how many wipes that 'thing' has caused. Nothing says fun like having Esuna interrupted repeatedly.
Coil, though, like all Final Fantasy questlines, has a story that people wanted to enjoy. So Square, in a brilliant move I might add, made the starting Alexander accessible (somewhat... il170? Really?). It's my hope that the 'raid community' doesn't try and ruin it for everyone else like they did Coil.

unless i misunderstand your post. (and also if anyone can correct me if i am wrong because this is just heard from players who do speak Japanese because i don't)
the jp versions difficulties have always been savage (or hard mode for us) when second coil of bahamut savage came out for us the jp version was called brutal.
so when yoshi p says we are getting easy and savage mode he just means easy and hard. (it will be harder than normal coil was but not second coil savage difficulty)
(if i am wrong just tell me)
really!! so you want SE to make a mid lvl alex for mid lvl players !! come be serious hope your paying for extra retainers and buying shitloads from the mogstation store so they can accommodate MID lvl players.. alex was hard enough for its purpose and has given ppl a little taste of what alex mechanics will be like come savage time!! besides its helping you start to gear up for savage etc if thats your goal if not you get some cool 190 gear to rock the dungeons and future content with!!..I feel like everyone is missing OP's point... Alex NM is too easy (considering they claimed it would be on a similar level as coil + echo, and harder than EX primals - it's not), and Alex Savage is probably going to be way too hard. I cleared t13 a few weeks before HW, and the difficulty was just right at that point for me. Savage will likely be way way harder than that.

i don't often praise SE for the choices cause most are shit but this has been another good choice..

Players are never going to be satisfied... They will either cry about it being too easy or it being too hard.
There are plenty of DF, and some PF, parties that are not capable of even clearing floor 1.
Personally as healer I don't find it too difficult. Didn't do floor 4 yet for various reasons, but did some farming of F1 and cleared F2-F3.
The i170 requirement is good as it forces players to get at least some practice at level 60 before even entering, but it probably should have been gated behind some solo challenge for each job you want to access it as, to make sure that players are actually capable of clearing.
