It predates WoW. Everquest, if I recall correctly.

    Regardless, it's a dumb term.

My PF earlier had said "Turn2" and someone messaged me with a 'lol' you must be so bad. lol
I feel like my brain collapses when people complain.
I was more then happy to tell this person I have completed Alexander and really don't give a crap what its called.
I'm making a Farm group - X person has a choice they can either qq about floor vs turns or get in and get shit done.
    On them not me.
Anyhow to me Coil is pretty much dead now. Alexander's turn is now in play. Ain't nobody got time to to debate.

    Blame the localization team.

    The JP version calls them:
The Binding Coils of Bahamut 1
The Binding Coils of Bahamut 2
The Binding Coils of Bahamut 3
The Binding Coils of Bahamut 4
The Second Coils of Bahamut 1
The Second Coils of Bahamut 2
The Second Coils of Bahamut 3
The Second Coils of Bahamut 4
The Second Coils of Bahamut 5
The Final Coil of Bahamut 1
The Final Coil of Bahamut 2
The Final Coil of Bahamut 3
The Final Coil of Bahamut 4
    Alexander: Gordias 1
    Alexander: Gordias 2

I wouldn't be so quick to point fingers. You should take into consideration what the players call them.

    Example: 真成編1層、真成編2層、真成編3層、etc.

How would you, as a player, refer to each 層 in English? A turn? A floor?

    Nope nope nope.

    It's :
The Great Labyrinth of Bahamut : Chapter of the Destined meeting 1-5
The Great Labyrinth of Bahamut : Chapter of the Invasion 1-4
The Great Labyrinth of Bahamut : Chapter of the Revelations 1-4

The mechanical Castle of Alexander : Chapter of the booting up 1-4

Ah, I see the mistake I made. I didn't realize the "Turn" terminology was player-made. I thought it was written into the interface.

Ah yes, I just wanted to illustrate that officially the JP version never gave them a specific word like "Turn". But it turns out the I never checked the EN version interface before, so I based my reply on my own assumptions only.

Thank you, sir. It's settled then.

    We shall call them beds!

層 following a number absolutely means "floor," though it is obviously less common than 階. The localization team was probably trying to go for something similar with their naming - i.e. more unusual/exotic than "floor."
