    Is Selene all that?

Read a reddit post where the author suggested that (heresy!) Selene's speed buff isn't really all that great. However, I couldn't help thinking they may have a point. Even under ideal circumstances, Fey Glow's +3% attack speed boost being up 50% of the time amounts to at best a 1.5% boost to overall team DPS (please correct me if I'm wrong). Over the course of a five-minute fight, that's a massive time savings of 4.5 whole seconds.

I couldn't help wondering if I pulled out Eos instead if I could more than make up for any DPS loss myself by being able to spend relatively less time healing and more time DPSing. Perhaps this wouldn't be the case for 8-man content or raids, but I would think it could be the case in 4-man dungeons.

    Thoughts?

This is not a Spell/Skill Speed buff. This is "Haste", and that improves the refresh time of just about everything. Auto-Attacks, Cast Times, Refresh Times. I feel as though this buff is actually stronger than the Skill Speed buff for Melee characters.
Right now there's nothing that requires the intense Healing that Eos supplies. I only bring Eos out when I have too many Bads and I need to put on my carry pants. Selene's DPS wins out any other time imo.

The issue is more that Eos is redundant in most situations. I only use Eos when an extra healing or mdef buffer is necessary for specific mechanics during progression.

Also, Fey Caress can be super convenient, which counts in Selene's favor.

If you take a moment and see that AST's speed buff for the whole party is 5% for 15s and the minimal chance you get it is every minute (If you're the luckiest person in the whole world), a guaranteed 3% buff for 30s every minute is proving to be worth it.
People complained that Presence of mind was nerfed from 30% to 20% and selene's buff from 30% to 3% (me included) but if you consider that it affects the whole party... it's a fair trade. And a group esuna helps too. Selene is my main main fairy from now on.

Ya that's why I use eos. I'd rather play it safe than get a minuscule decrease in how long a fight takes. No matter how overkill eos may be it still has a chance of being very useful whereas selene will always be underwhelming unless you really need the aoe esuna.

Edit: I guess selene could be amazing if the boss is enraging and a few seconds would've made a difference.

Haste (Attack Speed) just straight up reduces the GCD recast and cast by 3% (After taking into account Spell/Skill Speed values). Selene's old buff just increased spell speed and skill speed by 30%. Also, Haste reduces the delay of Auto attacks. Through the entirety of Selene's duration, you should almost gain an extra auto attack when it ends (assuming 100% uptime). An AST with Expanded Arrow is weaker than Fey Wind but with Celestial Opposition, the AST's buff will pull ahead (You will gain an extra AA with this set-up).

Unfortunately the reverse is usually true; Eos brings nothing but more healing and magic mitigation, which is useless if you are perfectly fine without it. More DPS, even if marginal, is always preferred.

When I first started playing, I was of the same opinion about Eos vs. Selene, but I eventually realized why many players favored the latter for most situations.
