It confirms that it was indeed gear designed for male characters, and is therefore not "crossdressing." Unless you mean to say that the devs intended from the start that males be able to crossdress, thus invalidating any and all arguments insisting the contrary.

Sailor uniforms are a thing, worn by sailors. Especially male sailors.

You talk like everything you know about Japan from anime is 100% the whole unabridged truth, while simultaneously proving you've never seen Card Captor Sakura. Boys have sailor uniforms, too, they just grow out of them faster.

The change to the sailor shirt was made before release based on demand from players with female avatars. This thread, if you'll note the creation date, was likewise made before official release in the hopes of eliciting the same sort of response. It failed, but is kept alive and in eternal tormented stasis like so many Meracydians. Clearly we need to summon a primal.

It was designed for both hence the reason it was released unisex. Plus you haven't even posted any link nor actual proof.

The sailor top and brais were a male exclusive at first to be opposite the spring dress. In case you forgot the sailor outfit didn't start in Japan as an outfit for schoolgirls, it was something that sailors wore as, y'know, a uniform. But aside from all of that why are you even continuing to post in this thread telling us what we should be asking for? We know what we want (and it's been explained many times in posts here), so why do you persist in rudely telling us what to do? You, Galka, and Hypie are quite welcome to please take your negativity and head off to other threads now. You aren't making new arguments and I'm tired of us having to say the same things over and over and over. I don't want this thread shut down and your unending rudeness and hostility is inspiring others to bristle in response.

There's an obvious context to a design. If they were going for the traditional sailor's outfit instead of the schoolgirl look then it would be made very apparent by the design. But I guess we can remain ignorant of that as well as a number of truths and only post in this thread if we 100% agree with the OP.

Bahamut in a Spring Dress. I'm halfway tempted to draw him myself and make banners.

I heard you wanted to talk about context. ^_^
Our wonderful localization and design teams have a habit of bringing us lots of stuff from different cultures, eras, and languages and blending it all together to form a unique style that we identify as Final Fantasy and the spring dress and sailor suit are no different.
The sailor suit being a uniform was brought up because you implied that the source of such dress was Japan. What we got in game is likely derived somewhat from the sailor trend in young boys wear around the 1890s crossed with the actual sailor uniforms:

And the female exclusive dress has some inspirations in the walking dresses of girls in seaside ports during the Regency era as well as tea dresses around the turn of the century:

So we have something with distinctly masculine originals opposite something with very feminine origins. I'm sorry I'm not seeing how you can instantly decide that while the dress was designed as a female exclusive the (now) unisex outfit with pants and a shirt that isn't at all flattering to the female figure were designed with the intent of being worn by female characters as well as male ones rather than changed last minute by the will of the company.

And as to the matter of being asked to leave if you don't agree. If you bother to go back through the last 70 pages of this thread you'll find that not once have I done so. Actually I haven't told anyone to go elsewhere either until the post you're referring to. I have been careful to let the discussion go where it will (with minimal guiding to ensure we stay on topic) despite the irritation of the naysayers' terrible reasoning against making the outfit available. I said what I did because we're up to 77 pages now and you guys weren't bringing anything to the table that we haven't already discussed and were just aggravating others. I welcome people posting their opinions, even negative ones, but when it gets to the point that you're just rehashing tired arguments we really don't need that.

(want to share pictures but don't want to spam all the page space :s)
    edit: found it

I am really a fan of him (illan riviere) and saw him a few times performing live

This one because reminded me on the OP. We totally need sexy MALE dancer elezen!

and this because ... Loki <3

Male dancers share one thing with female dancers ... passion. Regardless what kind of dance so ... what?
I wouldn't wear this on my character ( my friend would and I would love to see his character in it *g* ) but I see NO reason at all this shouldn't be a thing.

Most of the opinions I see against the implementation of the outfit for males, apart from obvious trolls, seem to be based around modern societal views, and not even from this century. We're not talking about sexuality or morality here, we're talking aesthetics; and while many of you will say that's a matter of opinion, there are certain rules that are inherent of beauty, no matter what kind of taste you have. These outfits NozomiKei has presented follow these set rules, they're beautiful and versatile and would make a great addition to the, sadly, scarce male repertoire of suggestive wardrobe.

A few decades back females weren't allowed to wear pants, or show cleavage, among other things. Now females are free to dress as they choose, FFXIV even reflecting this trend by making most of the supposedly masculine outfits available to them. Do you scream bloody murder for this? No, no you don't, ergo this should be the case for males as well, especially when the real world has precedents of men in this kind of dancing outfit, not to mention precedents of skirts being worn originally by males in past centuries.

And let's not forget the long tradition of male Final Fantasy characters wearing skimpy or sensual clothing; Kuja, Seymour Guado or Mateus Palamecia come to mind.
So really, the fickle ever changing views of society shouldn't even matter for this discussion.
