Our Airship is lvl 9 and with have a new secteur for rank 10.
We have the upgrade II and III, so we can build the enterprise now.
You can trade or buy the Balsa, Crystal, Bamboo to the other FC![]()

For anyone who has upgraded the sail (+speed), do you notice much of a difference? We were thinking of staying with a bronco sail to avoid the other penalties, but if it really does improve flight time that would be good to know!
I want to skip the Invincible-type and craft Enterprise-type directly since I've unlocked it, but can I use it, my airship currently at rank 9.
from what i have read, you can as each part of the airship can be replaced by a higher ranked part at the cost of some space if you have attained a high enough rank
it seems that bronco part cost 3... rank II cost 6 and is unlocked near 5 ... rank III probably 9 or 10... and is unlocked at 10 or 15...
Skipping a rank is possible but seems counter productive when you can just upragde one or 2 parts and keep the others at lower rank... choosing which stats you will improve first...

It's difficult to skip ranks because of both capacity and the higher parts having minimum rank requirement. You can't use Enterprise parts until 15 anyways.

HQ seems to be good for everything but the final phase. We used hq and got an outstanding quality on phase 1, phase 2 was then already 2/3 complete. So its safe to say the benefit for hq is using fewer materials in the next step.
Building quality with hq parts has the same chances as building quality with nq parts in my experience. Ive built an airship fully hq and fully nq and gotten the same amount of excellent procs either way. In my experience trying to hq everything is a waste of time.
Welp, it seems utterly pointless to skip ranks. I'll concede that now.
I built the R15 Enterprise parts, our airship is R16 with /27 total capacity.. and the parts eat up 11 pts each, up from 3pts ea of bronco.
Going from bronco > enterprise sail, it's knocked off about 4-5h in speed, doing sector V > sector IV.
I didn't think to do a proper comparison before I sent it off.

Thanks for the reply!
I did comparisons using the penalty from the aftcastle. With a speed rating of 66 our flight would have taken 41h 59m. With a speed rating of 70 that same trip would take 40 hours and 20 minutes. Assuming the airship was sent out back-to-back without delays, that would result in a 4% increase in exp and items (not accounting for any other stat changes).
Just some very rough estimation, I'd expect that going from bronco to enterprise rigging, you'd expect maybe a 10-15% flat increase in exp and items (assuming back-to-back trips).

News from Reddit: 22 is the rank you can unlock a 2nd airship. http://redd.it/3ce5vh
We're currently at 21. When Enterprise parts are usable I advise downgrading non-crucial parts to Bronco to be able to use Enterprise. Currently using Ent/Ent/Inv/Bro, for maximum range+speed.
