Unlikely, given that they ditched Gamescon in favor of staying in high-gear on development.
Simply put, if they went to a con right now, they'd have nothing of a press-standard to show other than the current-state game.

The point of my question was so I could initiate direct contact with Square Enix for a number of reasons, one of which I'm sure you've read earlier this month...![]()
^^This^^ But I really hope they won't be absent from the next year's events and they'll have some shiny new epic mindblowing content to show. Stat changes might mean a lot to the gameplay but that won't look good enough in a press release to get new players to try out XIV. Even Chocobos (as amazing as their arrival is) are viewed as a very basic FF-game feature and frankly mount systems in MMOs are nothing new.
Once the core work is done I hope SE can pull out of the bag something completely un-expected and mind blowing to use as marketing tool during the next year's game conferences.
Well, they only brought Deus Ex and Hitman to gamescom, and showed FFXIII-2 at an anime convention. Seems they are going only to where they think their specific audience is. I wonder what they think where they would find the audience of XIV? Maybe TGS?
Just finished my first day at PAX, Square Enix had Dead Island, Deus Ex, and FF13-2. Nothing else. Just one booth. Not much different from their setup from last year, too.
Though they did show off some figures from Deus Ex: Human Revolution in a display case - three characters, Adam Jensen and two others (presumably antagonists) and they are action figures. They looked rather well made.
