It could take a month probably just to get one piece of gear with 5 pieces of materia. If HQ items turn into higher materia and HQ makes it more difficult to attach materia, this will get crazy (but in a good way). You have to:

1.) Make a HQ item to spiritbond to make Rank IV materia (I can't see this coming from NQ items maybe dungeon items?)
2.) Get all the Rank IV materia you need.
3.) Make ANOTHER HQ item or farm a dungeon item to attach the materia with (which is now harder cuz its HQ i.e. lower attachment chance).
4.) Pray it doesn't break while adding the 2-5 materia.

This process could take a long time for just one item. What worries me is I am primarily a battle class and haven't found any good ways to make gil. I don't know how to pay for all of this tbh.

EDIT: If dungeon items become the source of Rank IV materia, a party system will become even more important. In addition, I can't even get a retainer on my server in Ul'dah so I can't sell anything to make money to pay for this new system. LOL.

Hopefully, since they've said that "spiritbonding the same gear will not always yield the same resulting materia" then you may be able to spiritbond all (or a majority) of the 5 materia you desire and help with cost ^_^
