Well, it can still be called the Lunar Whale but have a completely different function from it's FFIV counterpart, right?

So yeah, I guess I am kinda with you on not wanting too many "classic" throwbacks, but only because I no longer trust them to be true to the games they reference.

I guess? The point is to not rehash old things. Having it be the Lunar Whale, which we find deep in the sea (of clouds), that takes us to the moon, would be pretty stale. Of course it's Allagan tech because what isn't, but besides that it'd be a carbon copy of the IV Lunar Whale.

It's not so much a lack of faith to the original game, but a desire for it to be something new and unique instead of relying on old concepts.

I am 100% certain it is either...

Omega Weapon, which is a new super boss we're suppose to be fighting in 3.X series, or the Lunar Whale which may have some tie in with the cliff hanger at end of 3.0 story.

the omega weapon is stuck in the cartenou flats and as far as we know there is no power source currently strong enough for it...

What I said, in my usual angry, scathing way is "I want the same thing, but for different reasons."

The Dragonsong War arc was a good example of FFXIV sticking to its original material, and it worked quite well, so I'd like to see much more of that. If they can sprinkle a little bit of fanservice along the way, like a totally original take on Knights of the Round, that's more than enough in my book.

went to the Moon in one of the FF titles (V? III? Idr, DRK knight one) and the end cutscene shows Ascians on the Moon with the Warrior of Darkness.... (Leading some to speculate Zodiark Is the moon and Hydaelyn is the World we live on, as Midgardsormr describes our world as Hydaelyn when he speaks of arriving here). Its not that crazy. FFXIV pulls a lot from other Final Fantasy Games, the Moon is shown in a cutscene with Ascians on it, and we've been to the moon in one of the past FF Titles... Its not crazy to think we'll probably end up on the Moon at some point in the future...

Well...maybe instead of Noah's Ark...it's just Ark? The airship summon from FF9? We're getting a mechanical fortress Primal and the mysterious Eikons...so maybe we'll encounter more off the wall type Primals?

On a hunch, I went to the Churning Mists to look for the ship. I found it under Asah shortly after I zoned in at about 8pm-ish Eorzea Time, and noticed it was gone around 4am (8 hours later; don't know if it was there earlier as I only arrived in the zone a few Eorzean minutes before 8)


Then, I went searching around the zone and found it again to the north (traveling East) at 5:30 ET. It disappeared again at 7:30am ET.


EDIT: 4:30pm, found it in the north of the Sea of Clouds moving east. I swear this thing is getting closer to the zones every day...


And went to the Churning Mists at 7:30pm...its under Asah again...

Now, where is it from 7:30am to 4:30pm?
