I mostly just hate the egis because they lack any... liveliness or personality. I like to think of the 'pet' fighting by my side to be a companion, not just some tool used to increase my DPS.
I felt carbuncle was more of a companion because it looked lively and had a decent amount of personality with how it looked and moved... It seemed more like a living creature. Plus it was a cute, that always helps. :P
The egis don't even look like living, feeling creatures to me, personally. I miss my carbuncles.![]()
Well, that's because Egi's aren't alive. They're just a tiny fragment of a Primal. Even Carbuncles are technically not alive, as they're simply a mathematical equation.
Egi glamour isn't gonna change anything. we still have just 3 egis and it's not a real pet system (like having their own level, exp, skill tree, status allotment, etc.) even chocobo companion is more like a pet system.
they put nearly zero effort on summoner job.
Im ready to gwt disappointed when we can glamour egis.
Knowing SE we are gonna have to do multiple side quests in different zones just to unlock the quest to glamour egis.
and we will also need grade 6 glamour prism and glamour light, which is only obtainavle through desynthing the new thavnarian set. Top gives shard and bottom gives prism.
Oh and we also need to finish the quest that requires us to catch a titanic sawfish (is that what they are called? That one fish I cant catch..)
Please look forward to it
And what would you have Summoner's do, then? Reminder, summons can not be massive as that would cause problems (blocking AoE's, tethers, markers, etc).
Um, this thread is 100% about the egi's physical appearance, not how the job in itself plays. Read the OP. :P
Also I'm actually quite happy with how the job plays myself, personally. I like dots, I like using a book weapon, and I like having a pet. Sooo I'm good. I just want 'pets' that aren't floating elemental things, personally. I miss my carbuncles.
You smns are so demanding lol.
Se gives you ahk morn and teraflare and u guys still complain. Sure egis need visual updates but honestly i wouldnMt be surprised if se shrugged it off till 5.0 cuz honestly its just a pet summon.
Nothing more nothing less.
This isn't about how the job plays though. All I've wanted from the start is the glamour system, I'm quite happy with how the job in itself plays out. For me, personal aesthetics are a big part of the game and can make or break my character.
I've never liked egis, and that's why despite playing since 2.0 early access I've only just started playing summoner the other day even though I've been tempted since the start.
Also, you say it's just a pet summon but they are what make summoner truly stand out from the rest. I kinda enjoyed arcanist more than summoner because my carbuncle seemed much more alive and more like a companion than my floating elemental rock things with absolutely no personality. It's a creature that stands by your side at all times and is essential to the job.
I like Egis. They're exactly what they're meant to be. In this lore, Primals are generally bad, and summoning one requires immense quantities of Aether and willpower and belief and dedication. The Egis are but a weak shade of those primal forces, meant to give (aetheric) form to their powers but far from having self-awareness and a will of their own, nor the destructive power for which they are feared.
And beside that, I've liked their style since the first time they were shown in a LIVE Letter. I think the problem has got to do with western sensibility, because the first thing I thought when I saw them was "wow they're so minimal, essential lines yet that's all you actually need. that's so Japanese!"
(although admittedly, the fact that I was getting ready for a Japanese Art's History exam at the time might have influenced that judgement)
