Why do people talk about Derplander like he's an actual character? He isn't. He's simply a visual representation of all player characters. He represents the Warrior of Light in the movies and traliers.

The fact that there happened to be a Warrior on the moon with the Ascian doesn't mean much... especially considering that Derplander changed to DRG, so that wouldn't be him anyway if he even existed.

I think the best theory to come out of this thread is that the Warriors of Darkness are "shadows" of the WoL or are perhaps even from a different dimension.

No one said he was a actual character, but looking at the cutscene at the end...it pretty much looked like Derplander and people would be excited if it was Derplander. People know he represents us but people are just throwing theories around.

So saying, "Derplander is the WoD" is claiming that our characters are going to be come WoDs and it was our characters talking to the Ascian... which it obviously wasn't.

Besides, even if Derplander was a character in game, he's a DRG now, not a WAR. Just because the WoD shown at the end is a Hyur Warrior doesn't really mean anything. At best it means that the WoD are "shadows" of our characters or versions of us from another dimension.

He became a DRG when he went to Ishgard as the WoL...if this really is the same Derplander as the promotional one, then A.) Its an alternate universe one since our character is the WoL, and B. He also never changed to DRG because he has gone down a wildly different path at some point.

Yoshi-p said yes that he is a representation of us but he also on his own Journey with his friends. He does live in eorzea and we may end up seeing him later in the game. While Derplander in the movie could be a representation of us follow the WOL story-line they could be a derplander within the game which it seem to me what yoshi-p was saying by we may see him in the game later and that he is a person in the game.

Him and his friends are pretty much real NPC in the game by the sound of what he said during that interview. Forgot which one it was i'm sure someone would remember and post it.

That is interesting to take note about. Though a part of me thinks the Midlander is the WoD but there will always be other possibilities until SE confirms who is the WoD in a future storyline which is most likely 3.X era due to the amount of set up they put into the 3.0 ending.

On another topic:
I don't really get why people hate the Midlander so much that they would find it offensive that they made a character from the Trailer to represent us as a actual character in the game to be the WoD. Ya we won't get a Evil Twin Dopplegannger from Another Dimension that had a worse life than our character or was our polar opposites, like some generic fantary or sci-fi story, but it provides more room for SE to expand on the WoD. There is so much SE can do if the WoD is just some doppleganger of our character from voice acting (to match the character since each player has different race and gender), the WoD's history before his appearance in the game, and etc.
