How do these puns get translated into other languages? They're so specific to American culture. I'm sure maybe the name of the FATE changes, but I doubt the names of the mobs/bosses change. Especially like "It isn't Lupus..." with the giant Cancer crab.

There has to be!". Might be a Full Metal Alchemist reference? (besides that they say 'Father' instead of 'Mother'....) Depends on who you ask. Excelsior was in Star Trek III (1984), "The Enterprise" was the name of the starship since the beginning. Cid's airship has also been called the Enterprise in other FF games which again is a nod back to Star Trek. It's far more likely the upgraded ship Excelsior is a reference to Star Trek III.

As a related reference, the Greek Alphabet (Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma) quadrants in Azys Lla are ALSO Star Trek references. The rest of the games maps don't follow this logic.

Like for a whole 5 minutes there was an endless train of Star Trek references that I stopped paying attention to them.

The NPC Nodes all around the Azys Lla map are a combination of IVR (Interactive Voice Response) type of messages combined with fragments of "Terms and Conditions" like you would agree to while using websites and computer software.
