Endgame toxicity

Well, people don't have time to teach others while they all have done the fight and can easily down it, but when someone new joins and don't know the fight and wipes them, that's just time wasting in their eyes. But yeah, it tends to get a bit rough for those that want in the fun. (like in real life, want a job? You must have experience, but to get experience you need the job. xD )

It's absolutely deplorable that the majority of PF you see are like this. It's gross, makes me worry for the community of this game.

OP, don't worry. Over time these people will get bored and quit until the next patch. You'll eventually see PF normalize. And to all the people flooding PF with these ridiculous conditions, you should be ashamed of your greedy and selfish attitude. I'm just speaking my mind.

You have a few choices:

Make a learning group and set rules for it to go with the learning attitude

Make friends to help you (and others) through content

Whine on the forums about how people who aren't looking to teach are playing




If I'm looking to farm and don't want to waste time teaching people how to run something, or waste time wiping because of bads, I'm going to play that way. I'm not obligated to open up a pf to anyone if I don't want to. If you don't like what's offered, make your own party.

well it is somewhat frustrating to never be able to find a group to join, even my own fc wont take me through till i hit ilvl175
so just gotta keep grinding out the armor and keep a close eye on pf
i dont think theres much you can do to fix this problem though other than attempt to create your own learning party

Find a new fc. You need barely 160 for bis ex and maybe 170 for rav ex if you're a good player.

That's not my point, I'm saying the majority of people doing endgame content seem to have this kind of mentality. FFXIV seems to be seriously bad for it, I never really noticed this issue being so prominent in other MMO communities (From the small handful I've played at least) I did start a Bismark EX 2 nights ago to help a LS mate get clear, and both the tanks that joined immediately started conspiring to change it from a clear to farm party.. got the clear, after one of them left because we wiped at 10%ish a couple times.. but it kinda ruined the mood.

you must have never played WoW. Any PUG (pick up group) raid that wiped ONCE, especially on first boss was instantly disbanded and fell apart.

Keep in mind that the majority of the player base are nowhere near that level of content. Wait until the normal players who have jobs and don't live with their parents get to 60.

The main problem (IMHO) is the tome bonus (and has been since 2.0). There are a lot of players (like myself) who research fights beforehand, know the fight, and just need to get into a group to get the kill. But when the tome bonus shows up for the entire raid to see, it goes south from there. Starting your own group isn't a viable option either: the quantity and quality of players you get in a learning party isn't what it needs to be.

At the same time, the PUGing environment in this game is very strange to me. In virtually every other MMO I've played, if you tell the group leader, "I researched the fight, I know it," that is always enough. Yet in this game, no matter how much research you do, if the tome bonus pops up, you're in trouble.

It's a mess that needs to be fixed.

The thing about Party Finder is, you have the complete rights when you start a party finder to put whatever conditions or expectations you want out there. If I were to start up a 7 man minimum iLvl Titan EX, well, you certainly don't have to join that; and I doubt you'd walk in and start insisting I make it just a regular Titan EX clear. Hell, you'd recognise that'd be pretty rude to do. You wouldn't join a Dzemael first room farm and ask them to run the full thing instead. etc etc

I get the frustration with "but there's no learning parties" or "all the active parties aren't welcoming", but whether you think it's elitist or not, people can set whatever conditions they like when using Party Finder - player skill, gearing, attitudes, etc all fall under that. If you don't like their terms, you are just as capable start your own group with your own terms.
