    Alternative Jobs

So pretty much I have waited to see the summoner changes that were brought out. I played with all the new skills for it and have given it quite a bit of a try. So far though I can clearly say that just like in 2.0 prior. I am just bored with the class just in how it works and how it plays. The summons just feel lackluster to me which was my main draw to the class. That and the fact I am not really a fan of the whole dot them up and occasional hit them with some hard skill.

So does anyone want to suggest some alternatives jobs to try? Something maybe a bit more direct.

Also maybe an explanation as to why you suggest it? I want to get some ideas down.

It would be easier if you explained what you would consider fun/interesting in a DPS class. The classes are all quite different and some are higher maintenance than others but are hard to compare specifically because they are all quite different.

Oh likely should have added that.

Well for what I want in a dps class at the moment there are a few things at the moment.

I want a class that is more about direct hits and on the spot damage, rather then heavily relying on damage over time. I also tend to find jobs with a more compact rotation and that rely more on and picking the set of skills to deal with certain situations. Those are pretty much the main two things really.

BLM? Im assuming you still like ranged caster type so BLM would be the way to go. They do have some DoTs but its all about those big hits. Not to mention, theyre Yoshi's pet class so the chances of ever being gimped are slim.

Yes, go BLM then. There's actually a debate on whether or not Thunder is worth it at all at the moment, there's a rotation thread on Reddit stating that it's a DPS loss to DoT at all compared to just blasting Fire IV as much as possible. Give it a shot if you don't like passive damage.

In addition it should share all the same gear as your SMN, other than the weapon of course, so you won't be spending tons of time re-gearing yourself. This also opens up to if you ever get the itch to play SMN, you'll always have gear for it if you've been playing BLM.

Considering they have already been hit hard last patch...
