    3.0 Known Issues Post Doesn't Mention Dark Knight's Darkside MP Drain Issues

    As the title says, every DRK since 3.0 noticed that if they have darkside up while tanking their mp basically disappears. I tanked Sohm Al last night and I had to keep darkside off the entire time or I'd be sitting at 0 endlessly. It appears that BUFFS and DEBUFFS from enemies AND players is increasing the mp tick. If you use one dark arts move you basically drain your bar.

    As of right now DRK is literally broken. We need halp!

    Check the Dev Tracker, they made a post that they are aware of the issue and working on a fix.

    They addressed the Dark Arts multi-mob issues. They did not address the Darkside mana drainage issue. Two totally separate issues. Dark Arts stuff not hitting all mobs sucks but doesn't break the class. Not being able to have Darkside on does.

    The reason that if you have Darkside running and you get reduced MP regen when idle, is because Darkside refreshes itself on the global tick, thus generating an action, which reduces MP

    Now, the way Buffs (and Debuffs work) is that when an effect is cast on the Player ("you") it's prolonged effects are attributed to you; afterwards until it expires. So if your WHM casts Regen on you. Your combat log looks something like:
    •DRK gains Regen
    •DRK heals for x health.

    At this moment, the DRK has just generated an action, thus triggering Darkside to drain MP.

    Why is Regen in particular not your friend? Due to the new Spellspeed changes to HoTs, the average i180 WHM/AST can drain a DRKs MP to 50% in approximately 15 seconds with the DRK taking no actions besides auto-attacks, which do not drain MP. Heal over Time effects are hands down the most brutal MP drainers, because they're constant guaranteed drain on our pools.

    So next time you're running a dungeon, tell your healer. No HoTs.

    I see what you're saying, I just read the lodestone post and am worried now too. I hope they address the whole lot of problems drk has rn and not just 1 half

    Source for? The known issues post is the same place they always are, front page news or in the announcements forum. The darkside bug is documented in a bunch of reddit posts/bug forum posts as well as my own personal experiences tanking since 3.0.

    I have really no issue, nothing, nada, with my MPs as a DRK (lvl 60)

    I am sorry to say this but maybe you're playing the class really wrong.

    It's not that it's unplayable, it's that it's not acting properly.

    Though I've already posted in a more productive thread on the issue, I'll clarify for you:

    Regen ticks, poison ticks, spell applications, spells unapplications...ALL drain MP. They are not supposed to, and if you ever have an AST throwing out regen effects and card buffs on you, you WILL feel the difference.

    Didnt notice that to be honest, i'll keep an eye on it.
