sorry man but blm was good at single target before 2.0, it was changed then... I could tell you if you want to be aoe then you should roll smn then no? Thunder -> thundara was the bomb.

Ley lines is fine as it is, you can move out then back in, no issues. You can complete a full enochian cycle in most fights if you know what you are doing. I parse damn well on ravana AND bismarck ex, so i do have the experience. It also possible to never have enochian fall during a fight or at least maintain 85%~ish uptime on it.

There are problems sure, but nothing that QoL changes won't fix... the job should stay as it is pretty much atm it holds it own with ST vs melee and often does better with foe up. AOE is still strongish and flare supplements the rotation well if you know what to do with it.

If you don't like BLM then roll smn... right? I mean it IS the aoe dps mage now. You have no right to tell me to stop playing a job I've been playing for years.

Then you should sit down and learn the job. Move and cast, we have top 3, maybe top 2 ST overall now and our aoe is better than most still. It is noticeably harder now to play blm but it gets better over time.

If you don't like being single target, then play smn. Basically what you told me except the reverse

From my experience I still see black mages absolutely dominating the AoE field on par with summoners of equal i179 gear.

I feel the bigger concern to BLM is instead the fact that enochian and ley lines combined with their casting times are severely punished in later bosses. I feel it isn't an AoE damage competition or single target damage competition, but instead that the issue lies in immobility being slapped across the face.

Summoners with ruin 3 get the cast time problem as well, however absolutely by far not as much as BLM. It feels like the 50-60 skills emphasized that weakness of BLM. Mindyou they hit like trucks when done correctly, I have seen much BLM AoE and it is absolutely nothing to be snuffed at. Ley Lines + Enochian + everything else absolutely DECIMATES things.

If you did that you were wasting a potion that you could have been using on xpots anyway, and was completely irrelevant in content that mattered.

I've been playing this game for almost a year on the same job (plus a few side jobs like BRD, NIN, DRG...but BLM has been my main). I know the 2.x rotation inside and out. I have an alt who is SMN/SCH and I don't like the way SMN works with DoTs.
I'm level 60 and know that the new mechanics don't work with how the dungeons are set up.
Most people actually agree that SOMETHING needs to be changed with the BLM class to account for the changes. Whether that's increasing buff timers or having Fire IV proc fire III or having leylines move with the player....something needs to be changed.
