Dark Arts on Dark Passenger and Abyssal Drain appears to be broken

Darkside seems to not do its time based drain but instead draining when buffs wear off, you can test it by being in combat and using your own abilities. It becomes a nightmare when you have multiple buffs going off at once. Solution is not to use darkside right now

That's not really a solution. Lol. Maybe if you didn't rely on Darkside for a load of abilities. So in short, the job is broken for group play at the moment. Great. Well, guess I'll level my AST for now.

What group play?
Trials? Nothing there gives a fuck about these bugs.
Current Dungeons? You can Unleash through Avery/Vault/Library just fine which is the dungeons in which Abyssal Drain is relevant.

Does the bug suck? Yes it does and it should be fixed with some haste hopefully however its a joke to say the sky is falling.

You can do every Heavensward Dungeon spamming Overpower half-asleep and the trials don't really care about your aoe capabilities on Abyssal Drain or Dark Passenger.

This is again not to excuse whats going on, but lol @ broken for group play. Unless you jump back to 50 Content (where A drain isn't usable) thats about as problematic as it gets.

Its so disingenious to act like anything in heavensward other then the current two trials really require much of us as tanks on anything. Overpower/Flash/Unleash? Congrats you can hold Neverreap/Fractal/Research...Got a single target enmity combo? Your enmity is fine for the rest of heavensward content. Got a button to press? Rampart/Shadowskin/Innerbeast/Convalesence? Then you're fine. for legitimately the vast majority of this expansions content.

Bugs will be fixed, patches will come through.

I don't think he was referring specifically to AD and DP breaking group play. I think he was referring to the fact that apparently Darkside ticks down when you receive buffs or ticks from a regeneration spell since the patch(conversation started on previous page), though I've yet to notice this myself.

Obviously the online community always exaggerates to the extreme when it comes to these bugs, but I can see how in an EX primal having Darkside constantly tick down when you receive beneficial effects could strongly motivate you to play another tank.

I haven't had a chance to see this for myself yet, though, seems more or less the same in the roulettes I did today.

Players are also reporting MP being drained on the application of buffs, like cards and stoneskins, as well as MP being drained on ticks from HOTs like regen. If this is true, and my eyes aren't playing tricks on me, they really broke DRK.

I know for a fact sometimes you'll lose MP turning off Darkside.

Easier how? Are you legit overcomplicating pressing overpower/flash/unleash/1-2-3? Thats heavensward dungeons. Play ff5 on phone while tanking and typing in FC chat.

Abyssal Drain can be used on Avery, Vault, Library, Research Facility, Nappreap, Fractal continuum, The singularity factor, Bismark EX, Ravana EX.

Avery - Lol its a 55 dungeon, you start the thing before you even have Abyssal drain. Doesn't care.
The vault - just press overpower/unleash/flash and make a sandwich
Library - Brb map of 2-3 pulls...sometimes 4. Whatever.
Lets be serious. There are bugs, bugs must be fixed. The content is either so easy you probably weren't using the ability anyways, or the aoe blind/heal was irrelevant due to the nature of the fight. I don't know how my warrior has it any easier when all he has to do is Overpower and go back to my phone unless some competent dps forces me to......press 1-2-3. Then again given there was that thread talking about how flipping Solm Ai is hard...who knows.

I did a bit of testing just now, and I may be crazy but I don't remember Darkside draining my MP for every damn thing that happens to me.

Testing it out of combat, even self-buffs that cost no MP not only drain MP when they apply the buff, but also when the buff falls off.

Hate to say it but it wasn't such an exaggeration this time. If you have a group composition that constantly applies buffs, like if you have an AST healing you, you're better off tanking with something else right now.

This is incredible.
I read this thread and I don't know what to think. That they somehow manage to screw up so hard is to me amazing.

DRK is my only level 60 and currently the only job I have any interest in playing. Or had should I say as it seems to be a mere shadow of what it's supposed to be.

Lucky for us end game right now is hunts and they require neither gear or skills (HAH!) good one SE, good one.

I guess my opinion on the matter all biils diwn to SEs response and how quickly they solve this. If it's luke this coming Alexander and Dark knight is undesirable at launch then it's over.
