I would also like to point out in defense of the "EU sales are different than JP and US sales" argument, that particularly with the JP market sales for HW will be FAR higher than sales for ESO simply due to the fact that Final Fantasy is a Japanese game, while the Elder Scrolls series is based out of America. Traditionally speaking, American games sell very poorly in the JP market when compared to Japanese games, while Japanese games, (the ones that are actually imported anyhow), sell almost as well, if not as well, as American games in the NA market. This is because for a long time, JP games were the best story based games we could get in NA, while American games were typically relegated to mindless shooters with only the barest hints of story. This has changed over time of course, (and for the better), but the impact those earlier days had still is evident in sales numbers. I can't particularly speak as to whether the EU market is the same as the NA market, however.....

The game had restricted physical sales also. At one stage we didn't even know if a physical CE was going to be offered on sale in Australia and when it finally was it was $300.

So retail statistics probably aren't the best to use since it wasn't made as available at retail as it was digitally.

Australia is a completly different story. Afaik (and I think you can confirm), games are ultra expensive. Just seeing that physical CE price and you will understand. While it costs 130€ in Europe, it cost 215€ in Australia.

Good to know but it simply wasn't that avaiable to order BEFORE launch. I had to import a copy since none were being sold.

We need a revival of the thread about all the times that FFXIV died cause clearly low retail sales in the UK is one of the reasons that the game became unprofitable forcing SE to take the servers down.

Read the last 8 pages about why your information is ridiculously skewed. Especially when your conclusion is that the sales are "disappointing".
