More people buy MMO's on a console digitally becuase they can't trade them in or sell them to gamestop.
Everyone who bought ESO for consoles will quit when Zenimax completely abandons them in favor of bringing ESO to their true target platform: the Vita and 3DS. "Tamriel Handheld" will launch and everyone will buy it.
Then all of those players will quit when Zenimax completely abandons them in favor of bringing ESO to their true target platform: web browsers. "Tamriel Mobile" will launch and everyone will buy it.
Then all of those players will quit when Zenimax completely abandons them in favor of bringing ESO to their true target platform: a device lodged up their own ass.
Just so you know, TESO is still on a marketing blitz that correlated directly over the E3/HW launch timeframe.
Most (all?) the people who went into Early Access ordered online, not retail.
hum... Iorel, are you ignoring all the post that points the irrelevance and biased criteria of the link you posted and just picking on unrelated stuff??
Have some decency and edit your OP saying it was just a joke or you posted it ironically or something.
...Are you from TERA forums?
You seem awfully familiar. All your posts are usually condescending and trollish.
Just like this one.
I'd link your profile to TERA if I could but Holy cow...You're here...Good lord.
Not all, some of us went for the Physical CE.
But yeah, there is little to no reason to order a physical copy if you don't want to physical CE, it just adds issues.
FFXIV makes the bulk of its $ from subscriptions, so a new sale of ARR is just as valuable as a HW sale. I am impressed so many new players are starting ARR!
As others have said, there's a multitude of mitigating factors surrounding it. And even if sales of an expansion are lower than a base game release, that doesn't mean they're disappointing. A game doesn't have to be first, just profitable enough. And however much that is, is totally up to Square's accountants.
