It's actually just a product that we exchange money for. If I was "being salty", I'd probably be in ESO right now, no longer exchanging money. However, I'm not. Housing is probably the biggest example of a lie told to players which is a pretty terrible thing. That's the kind of thing that people think about when they read reviews over on Amazon and decide whether or not to purchase a game - especially one with an ongoing subscription that is supposed to cover the costs of development.
You may believe that it's 'fluff', but at its core this is a business, not just fun and games. And in a business, as a company you need to pay attention to the things that affect your reputation. Lies are one of those pesky things that come back to haunt you. And that leads to things like the game from another developer outselling yours because they didn't make a promise they couldn't keep.
You may not like to hear it, but we've got to keep driving this point home to SE otherwise they won't ever know what is wrong.
