    Hey Kit Kapnip,

    which class you wanna start with, depends if you want to DPS, tank or heal.

    I would recommend you to start with Gladiator if you want to tank, Thaumaturge for DPS or Conjurer for healer, as they are a bit easier than the other classes to handle in the beginning.
    But then again, all up to you and your preferences.

    When you start of, you don't have to level another class at all. But as soon as you hit level 30 with the class of your choice, you would want to level up another class to level 15 to be able to unlock the advanced job for your class.
    Jobs is a specialization of sorts, and gives you access to skills you can not get on the base class.

    There are loads of info out there which additional class you need to unlock which job.

    Jobs is an advancement of the base class:
    Gladiator becomes Paladin
    Maurauder becomes Warrior
    Conjurer becomes White mage
    Astrologican becomes Scholar (healer) and Summoner (DPS)
    Thaumaturge -> Black Mage
    Archer -> Bard
    Lancer - > Dragoon
    Pugilist -> Monk
    Rouge -> Ninja

    After you have unlocked jobs, you want to level up some of the other classes a bit to be able to access their skills on the job you choose.
    For example you would want to get archer to lvl 34 after a while if playing Black Mage to access the skills Quelling strikes (hate reduction) and Raging strikes (increased damage). This you will find information on here at the forums as well.

    You will not be able to change class before you reach level 10 with the class you choose to start with, but the progress of the quests will guide you through this in a good way.
    here are guilds for different classes in each of the main city states, and they will give you a quest to basically "equip this weapon" to complete, which then will unlock that class.

    But for starters: choose your starting city and starting class, do the story quest and minor quests you find along the way,a nd you should be off for a good start. And don't worry too much about other stuff than the class you start with for the first 15-20 levels. Then you will have a feeling and a better understanding due to all the in-game help as well.

    Hope this was of some help, enjoy the game
