Except going to Ishgard after the sultana was [assassinated], which is a pretty rare thing to happen in and of itself... also working with Cid, which we do, and oh yeah being allowed to become a dragoon alongside Estinien in the video.
What are you talking about?
Yes, going to Ishgard is rare I'll give you that. But the way the midlander crossed was completely different from ours.
We went to the Dravanian Forelands with Ysayle, Estinien and Alphinaud on foot and had no idea what Cid was doing for at least 6 levels. Nothing in the video suggests that Estinien was there (who by the way was absent from the group for a long time between The Vault and the Gubal Library). Quests in the Churning Mists show that there are lots of dragoons with the same dark blue armor. Also the last segment of the video showed derplander and the dragoons in Ishgard while it is attacked by armies of dragons. I completed the MSQ and no such thing happened.
What are YOU talking about?
You're not giving me anything, though. Once more, we know that the Midlander was at the assassination, that he took the same trek into Ishgard that we did, that he is a companion of Cid. And we know what Cid was doing, he was working on airships for the Ishgardians? But beyond that...

You were saying? You see the Warrior of Light, right there, as the Midlander.
There are the scenes with Iceheart, with Estinien, with Tataru, with Alphinaud. This isn't some kind of conspiracy. We're clearly the "Derplander," and as such the ending is definitely going to be that we fight our shadowed clone.
I don't buy it has to be our clone.
Then they shouldn't have shown anybody, because they never show him for in-game cinematics.
I don't buy that he's a separate person either.
I think he represents WoL is general. Hence, he represents WoD in general as well.
They don't need to look like us. They can be our counter part without being a clone.
Though most of the story has this idea there's only one WoL, we even know there were multiple in 1.0.
We see multiple teleported in 2.0's cinematic. That means there's multiple WoL walking around, and the midlander is just a poster boy of them.
WoL can look like anything, and the midlander is just there again to represent many others.
But if they wanted it to really be our clone, they could've shown our model for that cinematic or they could've simply hid it and revealed later.
Even if the WoD looks like the Midlander, I agree it's not the same as the Midlander in the previous cinematics.
In the end, he's just a placeholder. But they don't have to use placeholders for in-game cinematics like that.
So I have my doubts they'll be clones, rather than just our counterparts.
Hard to tell either way though.
True, he was used as a stand in in patch trailers as well before. However, these videos don't exist in game in that form. In game it's us who are there. In fact, the launch trailer and the cinematics shows the derplander crossing the steps of fate in two different ways. I'm going to take the video viewable in game to be the valid one and conclude that the launch trailer is not canon from the perspective of my character. But beyond that...

TL;DR. Having the derplander in the scenes shown in the launch trailer contradicts your personal character's story. Having derplander in the cinematics, does not.
How you deal with facts isn't my concern.True, he was used as a stand in in patch trailers as well before. However, these videos don't exist in game in that form. In game it's us who are there. I was only showing you the factual evidence.
It is impossible for SE to put "your character" in these videos.
