Confused about classes

Hi! I started playing the game yesterday. I like healing so I choose Conjurer and I like it so far!
But I'm very confused about other classes. Currently I'm lvl 18 and if I understand this right I need to choose two more classes? One at lvl 15 and lvl 30? Is this right? Or do I go first to lvl 30 and then choose classes?
And how does this affect my Conjurer? Do I only have skills from other two class?

No you need to level another class to 15, specifically Arcanist so you can unlock your White Mage job when you hit Lvl 30 with Conjurer.

You can of course level up other classes to try other roles if that's something your interested in but I believe just leveling up the 1 class/job at a time.

As for other skills, you'll be able to use certain skills/spells with your Conjurer/White Mage from certain classes.

For example it's a great idea to lvl up Thaumatage to Lvl26 to get the cross class skill swiftcast, this comes in handy for sending out emergency spells you might need to use.

But when do I lvl Arcanist to lvl 15? This is what's really confusing me! Do I need to create a new character for that?

You can do that whenever you feel like it, to change class you just need to have unlocked the ability to change class (I think that happens at either 15 or 20) and then you go to the guild you wanna change into and go to the person with the exclemation mark behind the counter to start out.

Switching classes once you have them is easy, you just equip the weapon of the class

You can level all classes on the same character. Once you have completed your lvl 10 CNJ quest you unlock the ability to change class. To level arcanist all you have to do is go to the arcanist guild in Limsa and do the "So you want to be . . ." quest from the guildmaster there. Equip your arcanist weapon and boom! you are a lvl 1 arcanist.

You can switch between classes at anytime you are not in battle. You should make gearsets for each class you unlock to make switching easier (Character -> and then hit the gearset icon to bring up your gearset list). After level 30, parties will start expecting you to be a White Mage not a CNJ so I'd recommend leveling arcanist to 15 sometime before getting CNJ to 32. As for leveling Thumaturge, you can hold off on that for now, but post lvl 50 you will be expected to have swiftcast crossed class on WHM as well (partially for in-combat raise).

As has been said you can level ALL the classes/jobs on one character if you wish. Getting Arcanist to 15 shoudln't be too bad, and you don't really need to worry till level 30 anyways.

As Naria said by about 50 you should think of leveling the THM to 26 for Swiftcast. Its a very important cross-class ability for all spellcasters.

I went with THM since you all recommended. Only one question. I have no gear when I switch to different class. Should I buy gear or just leave it?

You should have leftover gear from your conjurer unless you sold it. You can grab cheap level 1 gear, or buy race gear, at the markets in the main cities. Make sure to make a second gearset (page icon in your character profile) for THM so that you can switch easily without having to re-equip all your gear. You can drag the gearset onto a hotbar, too, so you can just click it and change to THM with the gear for it and all.

So what do you guys suggest, should I focus only on my Conjurer for now, or should I lvl THM and later Arcanist?
