hehe...sometimes i almost enjoy the knee-jerk reactions that people have to saying the "MMO that we won't mention".
Your comment is worthless to the discussion. though I appreciate you adding your vote to the "i hate people mentioning WoW" crowd.
I can mention at least 5-6 other MMO's that have done the same if that will make you feel better...
EDIT: on further introspection, I realized my previous comment wasn't polite. I for one no longer play WoW (stopped during late BC era), and only use it due to the fact that most people understand the reference. So i share your opinion...but it doesn't detract from the point i was making.

The best solution is to consolidate many quests into a smoother play. Less of the following.
Talk to Scion A NPC
-Get Quest A to talk to NPC A
-Return to Scion A and get Quest B to talk to NPC B
-Talk to NPC B and return to Scion A
-Get Quest C to talk to NPC C
-Return to Scion A to complete mini-arc
Could be much simpler and smoother with just the following changes;
Talk to Scion A NPC to get Quest A
-Talk to NPC A, (Linkpearl conversation), Talk to NPC B, (Linkpearl Conversation), Talk to NPC C, Now Return to Scion A and resolve mini-arc.
The latter would help the game plot flow more smoothly and increase Gameplay and Story Integration.
SE has sped the leveling process up considerably and have made it easier to do the 2.0-2.55 msq. What the intent of the original post is to take out the non story line related stuff in the msq. Not a hard concept to grasp yet people still struggle with it.Just about every MMO that has added levels/new areas/new story has streamlined the leveling process. WoW has done it at least a dozen times. This is not something new, or unheard of, or a bad thing. this is a good thing. They key is to keep the essential plot elements (some of which are really good), and get ride of extraneous fluff
Were most likely in agreement on this. my intro paragraph was mostly a personal summary. just offhand...what does the acronym MSQ mean?
+1 for sure. easy way to simplify all the erroneous stuff. The best solution is to consolidate many quests into a smoother play. Less of the following.

-Return to Scion A and get Quest B to talk to NPC B

Most newbies in my FC have no problem at all with the MSQ requirements. They are more often stumped by ilevel requirements for dungeons or Steps than anything else. If you don't have patience for cutscenes or dialogue, there's always the journal. It summarizes most quests in thorough detail, and you can pore through or skim it at your leisure.
Though I'm aware that an MMO is a different format than a single player RPG, I spend time in almost every FF game talking to all the NPC's I can find. By doing the same in FF14, you'll find starving Ul'Dahns in the streets and sick families beseeching conjurers for aid. Eorzea is a living, breathing, troubled world. Vanilla fetch quests are just that when you click through text without reading it. Running from waypoint to waypoint is the same every time. I'm not saying that every fetch quest is backed by stellar writing, not by any means, but a lot of quests, seeming trivial at face value, help humanize Eorzea. There are people with "real" problems in that world. Monsters and beastmen are lurking just outside town perimeters, but, perchance, this Warrior of Light, slayer of Primals, will brave them to help a little old lady in some remote hamlet.
Of course, things don't tend to come off as grandiose as all that, but if you take the time to enrich the story for yourself, let yourself find a little immersion, it's easy to see that it's not just a story tacked onto an MMO framework. It's a story they've woven, to tell alongside a battered, tired nation at odds with itself.
Some of us come here to explore the world, to meet player characters and non-player characters. Every little piece fits into a grander scheme, where the anecdote of a street waif carries as much, if not more meaning than the incessant rambling of Minfillia. Don't get me wrong, as time goes on and content is added, I don't expect fresh players to speak to every NPC in ARR in order to access future content, but completing the MSQ is no tall order. It's SE's way of guiding you through the world they created, and continue to expand on in 3.0. If it means that little to you, you can skip every piece of dialogue and every cutscene, and it will not diminish the experience you earn from quests, or the gear rewarded by them. Just don't be surprised when you reach the end of 2.0 content and don't find yourself at all invested in the realm or any of the characters in it.

Im done with this argument, I have 125 quests until I can finally make my dark knight, Ill gut through it miserably because of my hype for the new class new world etc, Just wish that I could have played the MSQ and actually enjoyed it from the DRK class because it is what I find myself really going to enjoy the most in this game, I have played a tank in almost every other MMORPG, This game's tanks didn't pop at me, But dark knight looks amazing and I really am looking forward to it, whelp time for grinding fun =)
..btw I hate quests, entire msq 1-50 in like 3 days I'm burn't lol had to take a day off as much as I didn't want to.
