That's what the first battle system was... you're pretty much asking to revert to the battle system before "point and click" was implemented

yeah i want auto attack to stay, just have a timer so you see how long till the next attack. And it would be good specifically for ffxiv because of the lag issues. Like animations aren't always necessarily instant and sometimes it can get confusing as to when the next attack will come.
