Some players might be like me: new

I've only been playing for 2-2.5 months which means I obviously spent a lot of time grinding the ARR story, especially once I discovered an expansion was coming (No, I had no idea Heavensward was a thing when I joined the game).

That sort of story grind is done to the exclusion of anything else like getting your Zodiac chain going, or leveling another class or indeed mastering the class you're using. I still flail with BLM rotation and am finally accepting it will take time for my muscle memory to fully adapt to FFXIV after 8 years of WoW's very short global cooldown. I'm in Heavensward content but in many ways I consider this my true lesson in the game, as opposed to running through dungeons with groups that know everything in them by heart and have the best gear in the game (which even when ilvl locked was still better gear than I ever obtained).

We've all been put on equal ground for the most part. We are all learning together and the first step to any learning process is failure. You'll be seeing people flail for a while yet.

AMEN! to that I mainly run DF parties as well cause healer so the queue is pretty much instant but never had any really troubles in there with groups >_>

I had one nasty Trial group tho (First HW trial)
wiped like 3-4 times there, adds not getting killed, people getting punted, people standing in stuff, etc.

On the other side I had an pretty awesome experience in there as well. Fellow healer got punted of the platform pretty much in the start of the fight so I ended up solo healing the rest unfortunate we wiped at like 5-7% or something -_- (ran out of mana with no means to refresh for an other 10 secs or so.)
But the amount of adrenaline that my body released, lol.

What are you moments where you shook your head in the new content?
So who are you to decide who's good and who's bad?

How to define someone as being undeniably bad: unable to hit 400 dps on every class in i160

ive seen it folks, blms hitting 350 in bismark ex in i160 gear, one of them even had an i180 wep!

Most of my dungeon encounters have not been bad, only thing I notice is PLDs now.....PLDs...they seem to have suddenly forgot they have buffs like Rampart and Sentinel and Bulwark and...even Foresight if cross classed...

I am AST so I notice when tanks don't use any buffs. Three times now I've had a different PLD in Vault who doesn't use ANY CDs on ANYTHING. Not even bosses. Also had one go through half the dungeon in sword oath...didn't bother to mention it to him was wondering when he'd notice.

It does keep me on my toes and I do like the challenge. It is also helping me learn AST faster I guess, but jeez new abilities? Okay, but don't forget about your old ones not all healers could deal with that.

I have had rather good groups for all 3 of my dungeons and 1 trial I have done till now.
1st dungeon nobody knew what we were doing, but it's an easy one so we did it without wipes.
2nd dungeon the tank was rushing, the DPS ignored the poison plants, and we had a hard time killing ADDs in the second boss fight, but we somehow managed to get through without a single death (although at one point the bard had 130 or so HP left :X).
3rd dungeon was the first that I actually found somewhat challenging if one doesn't know the strats. At least the last boss. As first I let the NPC die because I didn't know I can heal him, and second try we failed the DPS check. Third try was then a walk in the park as I knew what was coming and knew that I can help with the DPS check.

As for the first trial, nobody knew what was going to happen, nobody knew the fight, first try we wiped to leaving some ADDs alive. Second try I got kicked off to the abyss, and without overgearing it's not really possible to heal that solo for the other healer, and third time we cleared it without a single death.

So yeah, it's rather similar to the state it was before the expansion, but more people are going in blind, without reading any of the mechanics, so more wipes happen, everything else is the same.

I just met a very bad bard. he did like 1/2 damages compare to me for the entire Aery duty. not sure if he's undergear or spiritbinding.

then he tried to scratch Nidhogg with his bard lb instead of letting melee dps do the job.

all I will say is this, in a group, you (we) are as bad as the group is and as good as the group is. The others determine how your interaction will be, and so for the others vs yourself, single out someone is just silly especially in a group. People dont generally play AS a group, they play as individual IN a group and this attitude determines whether it will be a good group or a bad group, no matter if someone is not in a good day or not, if you play AS a group the rest should adapt to the weakest link, instead if you play IN a group, you will keep doing what you think is right for you independent whether the rest needs you to change a bit your habit to help a weaker link and by that the rest of the group

In conclusion, we are all bad and all good it depends mostly of your fellow group member of a moment.

I must be lucky. So far have done all of the trials/dungeons up to level 56 and had parties with 0 wipes. (Except the Aery we had 1 wipe on final boss as dps didn't free me, the healer, from the prisony move.) As long as the tank doesn't think it is a 2.0 dungeon where they can pull multiple groups and live, or the dps don't pull, or the healers don't go nuts with Medica II when it's not needed at all, the runs should go fine!

But as others have mentioned, you can't go into DF with new content and expect it all to be smooth sailing. We are learning new tactics for bosses. Our gear isn't max anymore. Some of us have to relearn our toolbars as we had to make room for new spells. Personally, I like it. It's nice to have things slightly more challenging. I'd prefer it in fact if dungeons required more tactics in some ways, for the first runs when our gear still sucks anyway. Like make it so spells like Repose etc actually get some use on the trash mobs and such.

Yeah. New players are going as quick as they can though the ARR story to enjoy HW, but that means that they don't get a chance of learning their job. They level fast and when they reach an instance they end up being paired with people way outgeared rushing the dungeon, so they don't get to learn to play their job propertly.
