Yeah, mine is stuck on Verifying too. Even tried to turn of Filevault to see if that was causing trouble (same icon), but nope; that's not it. Once it's done verifying it disappears and nothing starts. The proces is 'active' in the Activity Monitor, it doesn't use resources though.

I have been playing FFXIV ARR via bootcamp for the past two years and had no problems. Supremely excited when Heavensward was announced - downloaded, installed and getting FPS of 7 in Mor Dhona. I have a Late 2013 Macbook Pro i7, its a pretty high end Macbook.

Demanded a refund and sent a ticket.

Just adding my voice here. Mid 2014 Retina - i7, 16GB RAM with NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB. Settings turned way down and resolution set down to 1680x1050 and can barely break 20fps... drops below 10 if much is going on.

I tried to have realistic expectations for this, especially after hearing it was wrapper - but the performance hit verses how well I could run it in bootcamp is just not acceptable. I will wait a little for some kind of response from SE on why they felt it was acceptable to sell us this and what their plans are to improve it - otherwise I will be pursuing a refund as well. Very disappointing and frustrating.

It doesn't look "that" smooth. Furthermore it's a trial.
That person should go out in the wild and run around, he'll have the same problems.

I've posted this in a few threads, but I actually get better results running the Windows client in a full Windows VM (Parallels) than I do using the Mac client "natively".

Mac client, 1680x1050: ~10-15 fps
Windows client, in a VM, 1920x1200: ~20-30 fps

Something is very broken and I wish SE would say something official rather than letting the forums dump on Mac users for owning Macs and having the gall to purchase the Mac client.

I still can't even run it.... as soon as i try to launch FFXIV i get a pop up "Verifying Final Fantasy XIV" which then disappears and then updater doesn't appear. Can't even find an appropriate help topic to get advice. Has anyone else had this issue?

I had the same problem. I figured out what it was. When you launch the FFXIV app it will launch some second app under water. The Wine console. But it doesn't alert you if you don't allow apps to open from unidentified developers. Normally you can do that by right click on the file and open (or Option+click). But that doesn't work.

You have to lower your security settings to the lowest possible option in order to start this. You find the setting under System Preferences - Security & Privacy. In the screenshot you see how the setting should be to make this work.

I'm afraid this is a no-go for me. I'm not gonna make my system vulnerable to play this Windows version in a wrapper. Even temporarily. Can just turn the setting back on once it's launched of course.

That is pretty smooth looking. My MacBook is very similar to this, but a generation earlier (so it has an Nvidia card). Maybe that IS the difference.
