One way to do it is to buy multiple copies of the game yourself and "friend" yourself. Not ideal, but it's what I did for WoW to get the recuit a friend mounts since all my friends and family already played.

I get 3 copies of ARR, I pay 3 months of subscription, I go through all the hassle of that plus the money, and I end up not receiving nothing and I cut my veins, so I'm definitely not giving this a try for my health's sake.

Don't tie them to you. Your family members don't play FFXIV because they hate games that aren't solitaire? That's just because they just haven't tried it is all! Plus Triple Triad is like solitaire! I mean, there are cards involved right?

I don't disagree that it's a pretty freaking extreme thing to have to do to get a mount. I'm just happy I know enough gamers that I can gift these onto.

In that post:

The issue is that you said the second account belongs to you, and that you created it so a friend could try the game.
This is account sharing, which is against the ToS.
There shouldn't be any issue owning two accounts for yourself and only yourself to use.

its most certainly not against the TOS to own and use mroe than one account. I have 3 (I multibox) and used the recruit a friend for both. Nothing against the TOS

It's sharing the account with someone other than yourself that is against the TOS
