Caecalius, you're not getting gouged for the Mac client. The price is $60 because it contains licenses for both ARR and Heavensward; it's the same price as the PC combined client. If you take out the cost of one month's subscription ($15), the final cost is $45. I think you've realized the issue is that Square charges a license per platform, which they did for FFXI. You keep mentioning Blizzard and WoW, but they're not really comparable. SE supports 4 platforms, not 2, and they will take a loss on some platforms, so charging per platform is a way to recoup those costs.

As for the other people in this thread, gaming on a Mac is more than feasible. iMacs and Macbooks are the only *top computers that have seen significant growth in the past few quarters, and in terms of performance, my machine has an Intel i7 with an 4Gb Nvidia card, it's more than up to the task of any game. There are reasons why Blizzard made all of their games available for OSX, why Guild War 2 has an OSX client, why Rift has an OSX client, etc, and why more Steam games have an OSX pot to them.

No, they didn't. You could by one license and borrow the disc to install it on the other system.

They're charging for Playstation 3/4 because SONY wanted some money back after allowing free online support for FFXIV.

As for Mac...going through the motions, maybe...
