Do you think it looks better on HW areas or in general? Maybe they did a better job at HW areas because it wasn't a port or something. Better lightning, and maybe better water effects. No tessellation, though. I think they did change that character light thing they showed on the live letter, maybe you got that impression from that?

Because DX11 doesn't increase performance over DX9. It wasn't designed to. It was designed to increase graphical quality. The same settings now have higher requirements than before, and the max requirements have MUCH higher requirements than before (video card-wise, CPU-wise the requirements are the same). So yes, on integrated graphics like that I would expect worse performance on the same settings.

Mine's an Asus from late 2014 with an i7 quad core @ 2.4 GHz (3.2 in hyperthreading) - 2GB DDR3 (T_T) vram Nvidia 850M GTX - 8 GB RAM in dual channel - 1 To @ 7200 rpm + a 24 GB SSD for a 5-10 sec cold boot to desktop.

Welp I got a stable 60 fps in Dx9 with a bunch of options deactivated @ 1920 x 1080. Mainly SSAO - water reflections - transparent quality

With ALL OPTIONS ON LOW OR OFF IN DX11, I will be damned if I get above 30 fps lololol

So, direct x 9 for me it is.

I barely notice an improvement in quality with this comparison (bunch of options ON - high in Dx9 compared to ALL OFF / low in Dx11).

Thing is, outside of tessellation, rest is just shaders, lightning, shadowing effects. The models, the textures, the aliasing on said textures, all stay stock quality.

If you remove all the shining lightning and shadows and reflections that all cost 10-15 fps each you'll see that the game stays the same lol.

Now, if there was a way to force HD textures and/or anti-aliasing on those textures... I would gladly switch to dx11.

Are there any side by side comparison of Dx9 - Dx11 with same features activated (or deactivated in fact) anyway?

Pita to have to RELAUNCH the game launcher just to change Direct X, cause that means fighting Lobby Error 2002 & 5007 more often to just get inside lol. I tried using the benchmark, but outside of going from 70-85 fps to 20-35 fps, I barely notice differences since everything goes so fast and the option thumbnails are made for ants.

I don't now. Dx 11 dropped my fps to 40-50. I can run it on top 60 with dx 9. :/

not sure about gtx 850 but I think your main problem is over heating... that's the issue with laptops - no matter how powerful if it is, it is limited by temperature dissipation.

My desktop runs wayyyyy worse than your spec but can get all the bling bling of this game no prob

That's what I thought as well. Looked for something similar to the benchmark launcher, but... nothing. There's no option like that.

Turn off "Screen Space Ambient Occlusion". It will give you 20-30 fps increase.

Oh well, I can't live without my laptops I hate not being able to transport them easily AND use them on the fly in McDonalds, airports, trainstations etc with the free wifi or just to watch a movie or two ^^

I used to run the game on my old asus (it was on gtx 270 i think? lol).

tbh it still ran pretty well, but thats after i took out the bottom cover i.e. the entire inside was exposed, and I used table fan to cool it - got the job done lol... but that was also when I realised 'gaming lapto[' is an oxymoron
