    I guess it makes sense though. These people and their culture are supposed to be completely different than people in ARR. They're more for survivability and practicality over anything else and their mindset is only focused on the war with dragons.

    Though I only just started, so I probably shouldn't make assumptions based on first impressions.

    It's ok Miya, the bird you kill, has EVERY intention in sending you back to an aetheryte in pieces, so don't feel bad about killing it.

    Also didn't we have to "kill" chocobos in Final Fantasy XIII-2? (those deaths also required to get their essence to summon them as an ally in that game too)
