This is the most annoying thing about this new class. Everyone just runs around with it on and it's terrible and they're terrible and it needs to stop.
Play DRK for a while and you will see. I would normally agree with you because I'm the type of person that rolls their eyes every time I see a whining thread created (and there are soooo many), but Darkside CAN be rather too much sometimes . I've leveled DRK from 30-52 and the messy red aura can get to you after a while. The best solution right now is to turn it off when you won't be fighting anything within the next 30 seconds.Wow. This thread just proves the FFXIV community will shriek and moan about anything. I'm not a DRK, I main as a SCH, and I've barely noticed this. I've seen the buff and it's not even that bad, it's thin streams of red, and it's not a very big effect at all. I really don't understand people's complaints about this.
I'm totally fine with their skill effects, though. I can see my sword animations just fine, and I enjoy the flashiness.

Yeah guys it's like there isn't another aura in the game. Who thought this even made sense? Imagine if another job had an aura? Now imagine it's a brighter color? Now imagine the only difference is that aura needs to lose it's duration or be manually click off. I wonder what that job is...
Having been playing DRK for the past few days I would quite like it to be changed a little. I think it would be nicer to have it as others have suggested be just an effect on the arm/weapon (perhaps a glow from the heart down the left arm). At the moment it is just a little too much that I'm running around like a distress flare for all to see.
Then again, I'd also like to be able to toggle weapon glow and things like that, particularly the glow on the relics as the models are (IMO) ruined with bright light. I realise that on my character I can get a replacement to glamour, but I'd like to see everyone else's relics too.
This thread amuses me because the DRK friend I spammed dungeons with from 30 - 50 near creamed his pants when he started using all the abilities.
Hell, that black/red glowing aura is noticeable yes, But as the Machinist, I had zero issues with it. On DX11 Eyefinity max settings ... The problem is you, not the DRK effects.
I think square changed the animation because if you remember in the job abilities video the dark knight had black flames around his feet instead of a huge red aura.
It should obey system settings? Yes!
It is a big deal? No!
That red aura is almost transparent. Even with 10 DRKs in the same place, it is not a big deal, since effects DO NOT stack. It's not like "wow, it's getting moar and moar red when DRK stay together!"
War effect is a bit more annoying, although its "battle only".
Grinding my DRK and I'm okay with soft red aura around me.
I must say english is not my primary language, so if you find some grammatical or syntax error, please tell me and I will edit my post. Thank you!!
You're telling me you've been in a town and seen 10 Dark Knight all near one another, with their red glow effect? Screenshot or I call bull.Shrieking and moaning, really? Doesn't matter if you play DRK or not - the buff for myself and obviously others is quite noticeable; if it was invisible there would be no comment on it (or at least not the same). If you like it the way it is then fine, share your opinion but there is no need to be rude just because it isn't your opinion or you feel "worth" the space of general discussion forum. If you don't understand why someone feels a certain way you should try not to start out the conversation with "big cry babies" - if you have no preference and or don't care.. was it really necessary to comment?
In town I've seen at least ten Dark Knight on the screen and to myself it looks bad. The effect one on one looks ok imo, I don't have a real preference for it but nor against it. In combat I can't even tell if the thing is on, one of the least flashy things going on then. Currently at best we've got a moan if you twist complaint into that, OP can prove otherwise I suppose -please don't though lol.
Another Darkside Aura thread: here.
Seriously, I could care less either way. SE can add an option to turn it off for those with "extra" sensitive eyes. Do I really think it's a topic that deserves multiple threads and long, detailed complaints vs. other more important problems the game has, like limited housing plots? No, not really. But with this community I never know what people will complain about, I guess. Oh yeah, the fact that we now have better voice actors...![]()
Love it or hate it, it really should obey the graphics settings. So weird that it doesn't. That's gotta be a bug, surely.
(I like it, for the record.)
