Hmm, I've played MMOs since their MUD days and I'm pretty sure most "normal MMOs" didn't have me prove my strenght against my summoned creature before I'm allowed to summon it as an evoker class.

Storyline flow was nonexistent in most, you just did quests, got exp. The active storyline was told at the beginning of the game and never throughout.

Few MMOs had a crafting system.

3 MMOs that I know of have a system that allows you to change jobs at will.

While we're on the subject of similarties or people hating on XI...Here's a system they should never implement in FFXIV since FFXI uses it:

    The Prowess system.

What this does is the more you grind under Grounds of Valour the more stat enhancements you get, for example when you complete your objective you get Enhanced Weapon Skill Damage, or Enhanced Magic Accuracy and Attack, more chances at loot/treasure caskets, more HP/MP and so on. Since it's used in FFXI and lots of FFXIV players hate the fact XI exists..SE should never implement this system.

Hit a nerve? you cut me to the quick Dearest. This XI-2 your mentioning is what you want it to be and will never be XI-2 because of one simple logic:

XIV and XI Don't play in the same world

*Its Posts like these that don't help the game at all what's so ever* Try posting something intelligent next time then I can talk Intelligent back. Until then I'll talk how you talk. "Blah blah blah blah" That's all I hear

Edit: Oh and by the Way in XI Galka's have Tails, Roes. Don't have tails Similarities? Nope
    @Vedis

Yes I am Opinionated nothing wrong with that and people are opinionated all the time, everyone has an opinion do they not? :P and you know I like it when you slap me around hahaha

In the end, it doesn't matter if we get a unique game or FFXI Ver 2.0, although I'd prefer a unique game. You want to know why? Nothing you did in XI will carry over or matter in this game. Fresh start, fresh character, Dieties, completely new cities, and story. Everything that you accomplished in XI is still yours and can never be taken away from you. But like every Mega Man game that's released, you may beat the final boss with a wide variety of weapons you've acquired throughout the game but you can't take them with you in the next installment.

But also like Megaman, they carry over mechanics and enhance them. The only time they've scrapped a system was the points system.

Right but the Mega Man series was an intentional sequel to sequel franchise. This is part of a franchise that is very much known, and sometimes joked on more, about each game having nothing to do with the last. Like now we have The Twelve and no Altana or Promathia (If I had to do CoP all over again in this game.....). But the fact is, is that you can always see similarities in anything. Elves and Halflings are hardly new concepts and "cat-girls" have existed in anime for god knows how long. I don't know where Roegadyns or Galka could be sourced to, but I'm sure someone here does. Can't we just enjoy this game? Improve on it and enjoy it?

i wish this was like ff11 the transition would of been so easy. i remember first day in beta i was trying to put in ff11 commands and nothing was happening lol. if this game would of had at least ff11 backbone i would say this is version2. slowly but surely i think the game will follow their bigger brother. just imagine if this game had what ff11 had with the enhanced graphics on release date, man ff11 would be empty now.

^ This 100% Couldn't agree more Weather its XI-2 to one person or an Entirely different game to another, one common thing occurs:

*We all play FFXIV or Talk about FFXIV* Apparently we like/love the game or else we wouldn't be here would we?

As well as share similar mechanics. Even now they're bringing back the sphere grid system for the latest incarnations of FF games. So mechanically, XIV should have taken what works and enhanced them, just like Megaman games. Remember when sliding was introduced and pretty much changed the whole game? XIV could have done that but instead its been well known and mocked to being a giant step back from XI in almost every way but the class system, and even that still has holes in it.

I do remember that, it came with Mega Man 3 (which I think is still the best one of the NES series lol). I think the addition of the Job System to go alongside the Class system though is what's going to radically change this game for the better. No subjobs will be required because you'll still have the option of picking, albeit limited and understandably so, abilities from other classes. I mean I don't know about the rest of you, but we're on the edge of something that I think is very interesting. Looking at it another way, the classes are more of the base to what the jobs will be built upon. Both will rely on each other and will need each other but you don't have to pick one or the other. What you do is still your choice, all they are doing is just that. Adding another choice and I can't wait to see how it works out. I'm not expecting it to be perfect, but nothing ever is.
