Should my wife and I buy the expansion?

I'd highly suggest that if you are on the fence, to just grind it out until you finish the main scenario up to where the xpac kicks in. At least by then you'll know whether or not this is the long term commitment you two want to spend money on. But I can pretty much guarantee the ending will blow your socks off and you'll want more regardless. ;]

I send think should wait just take your time enjoy 2.0 story and get to know the jobs and such then when your ready buy it. I prefer taking things slow any how idk why people are in such a rush to do things sometimes it's a game enjoy it. On a side note what server are you on I'm on faerie and I'd be happy to help you if you need it ^^

Wait until you can play expansion content before buying any expansion. It's going to be a rough and long road to 50 from here on In. I suggest getting I to
a helpful FC to get passed some of the content hurdles.

well the lvl 50 quests give exp now, but if you don't buy the expansion the exp goes to waste (like for the people who already did all the quests) because you can't get exp at 50 without it.

the exp will help get you closer to 60 earlier.

i am also not saying you should buy it, just saying put this into consideration.

I would wait because it is mostly post-50 content in the expansion and you don't know for sure that the game will hold your interest that long.

This right here is also why I suddenly stopped trying to rush my post story content. I just finished 2.1's quests when I heard exp and gear were going to be rewarded. Now I wish I had held onto my soldiery instead of dropping it on my weathered weapon. Could have become poetics instead (granted, I love how the weathered staff looks so not a total loss. And now I can pick up gear for a healer instead).

If you are a tank it is an easy ride to 50 on a tidal wave of Dark Knights, Machinists, and Astrologians. Roulettes will also be rewarding tomes of law for 2.0 content. SE planned for an exodous from 2.0 content and arranged for players to have an incentive to continue doing it.

Thanks for all the answers. Wow, this is pretty confusing. We decided to buy the expansion now primarily because we're having a great time and expect it to last and I want to make sure we're getting everything that's available. The only remaining question I have is whether we will see anything different when we login tonight or will everything be the same until we finish our main storyline.
