I guess you are right, however in practice if it goes out (as it just did a short while ago) I don't want to stop what I'm in the middle of doing to reload the entire game. And since I leave myself logged in almost all the time, when I sit down to play the last thing I want to do is go through the logout/login process. Sadly in practice it's easier to simply not use a wireless controller.

If you plug in the XBox360 Headset accessory and let the drivers install, your controller should be able to reconnect. It worked for me.

I do not own said accessory and have no intention of getting one. I don't own a Xbox360, just the controller.

I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.

Did you enable "Enable gamepad when application is in background"?

Hmm... the headset trick doesn't work after I had to reinstall windows... and enable gamepad doesn't let it re-associate after disconnect. Maybe it has to do with changing priority when switching to other windows?

I use an Xbox 360 Controller - for some reason, having the Logitech Rumblepad 2 software (free download) installed solves all my problems.

I may have a solution... I was having this problem with my wireless Xbox 360 controller for windows back in the beta.
Someone else already found the solution by installing a custom driver (Japanese Driver).
I downloaded it, installed it, configured it (many many times), and finally got it to work.
Now whenever my controller powers down, all I have to do is press the power button again and it reconnects with the game without me having to relaunch the client.

This solution might work for other wireless gamepads as well, but the configuration process might be a lot different.
I'll try to find a download link for the driver.

    *EDIT*

This should be the right driver:
    http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/1198...ver-for-win98/

Check the next to last post in the forums for the download links.

Note: I have not checked these download links to see if the driver they contain is the lastest version of the driver, it is simply the only one I could find relating to this particular driver for the Wireless Xbox 360 Controller for PC. If anyone is unable to get these drivers working for their controller I'll see about hosting the one I have.

If you need help configuring the driver, post your problem here and I'll try to help as best I can.

I've also been informed by someone in my linkshell, that MotionJoy is an excellent alternative.

The only difference is that MotionJoy prevents your controller from turning OFF.
If you hit the battery pack or the batteries die and you have to switch them, you'll still have to relaunch your FFXIV client to get the controller working with the game again.

Kittra I hate to be the guy that says your suggested fix dose not work, but your fix dose not work. I downloaded and installed the Japanese driver from the list you linked to and a few other drivers there as well. While the JP driver installed it never registered in the device manager. I have a theory. I think that the controller as well as the receiver need to run Japanese driver's But I could not find one. Plus I have the added headache of windows 7 64 and the wireless gaming receiver is picky about the driver it has to have to work. Anyone with 7 64 bit and a wireless gaming receiver may remember having to google for a fix when they first tryed to install it.

The 360 headset trick did not work for me. But the Logitech controller software Naylia suggested does. Unplug the battery and let it set for a bit, pop it back in and turn it on and work's. For it to work tho I have to have a Logitech controller plugged in at all times. I happen to have a flight joystick I can plug in to a rear usb port and just set the joystick safely out of the way. I can live with this for now but you others may not be able to do this work around since it requires you have a logitech controller of some kind. SE really needs to just do a proper fix for this. Its silly.

I knew I should have just done a tutorial from the start, but I was lazy. =P

This should work, but I'm afraid I only have the 64-bit version of the driver.
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N9S505X7

I wrote a guide to installing and configuring the driver, it even has pictures.
I've gotten this to work for two people in my linkshell so I don't see why it wouldn't work for everyone.
Baring 32-bit users there should be no problems with this driver as long as you follow the directions down to the last detail.

For everyone not using an Xbox 360 wireless controller, I'm sorry, but this driver will not work for you as it was specifically designed for that controller =\

Next best thing I can recommend is MotionJoy.
