Well, My Patch Has Already Error'd and Closed itself.

Haven't gotten an error, but I do have a 9.6GB patch downloading right now. Boyfriend downloaded the 4.3GB patch from earlier, I copied it (the whole install folder) over to my comp, launched & selected Heavensward to start installing in the little expansion pop-up screen, got a 9.6GB patch. He got a 3GB one (same files, as noted) opening the launcher immediately after I finished copying. It's kinda...concerning. I knew about the whole "if you start downloading after a certain time you get the bundled up 8GB patch instead of separate ones" but this is a whole gig more.

Yea me too. My main pc got the patch in 2 parts. Other 2 pc in same house just got the big 8gb one. I am banking on the version checker built into the launcher to save me if something should need fixing.

This is reassuring.

I've had tons of problems with patches in other MMOs (especially, TERA. F*cking TERA patches, ugh.) where any little error meant to reinstall the whooole game. Which takes 1-2 days with my internet. I've never had a single error with any of FFXIV's patches so I supposed it just surprised me a bit. ^.^"

Good grief, given this context it's no wonder you were worried! I'm glad I only played Tera for a week.

I had a group of high school friends who could only play F2P and they picked TERA. The game-play felt really... clunky to be considered a "true action" MMO. Vindictus did it way better. I had to stop playing it because of the patch issues. It felt like every second patch my game would corrupt itself and I'd have to install the whole thing over.

So they still play that while I play FFXIV and they get jelly of all our awesome stuff. ^.^
