In FF3, you were the WoL preventing the CoD from flooding the world with dark. But in the past within the same game, there were Warriors of Dark which prevented the flood of light.

Its weird, but I always got the feeling that the one guy from World of Darkness was gonna be the WoD (Nero. The female voice could then be Cloud of Darkness, since it isn't actually dead.) Can someone compare those two voices? "Its time for you and yours to join the fray" could be refering to a regathering of the judges(I forget what they are called in 14 lol)
I'm guessing the reason the ascians wanted the WoL to get stronger was because of the WoD coming to restore this equilibrium. And using the large amount of aether from that WoL vs. WoD conflict for reviving zodiark.

not so much. us as champions of light, and they as champions of dark exists to create a balance. when one side over-reaches, it is the duty of both sides to restore said balance.

I think the same thing will happen here too. Since the ascian says everything needs to be kept in equilibrium and whatnot
I like how the Ascians seem to be making it up as they go along;
2.0
"We need to create chaos so the one true god can return!"
3.0
"Balance needs to be restored! Even though we're the ones who are still technically winning!"
I think they're pulling the wool over the Warrior of Darkness' eyes. They don't care about balance, they care that we're a thorn in their side. They take a group of misfits, tell them they're Warriors of Darkness and that they need to restore balance by stopping us. I would not be surprised in the least if the Crystal Braves end up being the Warriors of Darkness, Ilberd seemed to be fairly annoyed at how awesome we were by the end, the Ascians could no doubt use that jelly to easily convince him to oppose us.
I mean really, from a lore stand point there is only one Warrior of Light, and we're now getting a Warrior of Dark and his allies? That seems balanced. Lets say the Echo is a gift Hydaelyn and Zodiark give to exert their power. On the Light side, we have maybe two people talented with the Echo. One is currently an enemy. One is MIA. We really haven't gotten our shit together, have we? All the Ascians have Zodiarks Echo and they all seem fairly adept with it. That's some nice balance you got their.

This all depends on if we kill any more ascians in 3.0. We will presumably defeat Lahabrea in his new form at the end and if that reflects the 'true' power of the Echo then our power as a WoL will have far surpassed that of the ascians.I like how the Ascians seem to be making it up as they go along;

I feel it is very like the Warrior of Darkness line will be a post credits scene at the end of 3.0 and the 3.x patch cycle will see us facing them.

Its occurred to me that perhaps the WoD isn't actually associated with the Ascians. The voice tells the WoD that its time for 'you and yours to join the fray'. That doesn't outright mean they intend to directly fight us. Frankly the Ascians seem intent on braking balance. The whole Extreme Primal quests seem to only emphasise it.
This could actually lead to a kind of three way stand off. The WoD and co vs the Ascians vs the WoL. Alternatively the WoD could hold a role more of a rival rather than a straight up enemy.
Our understanding Darkness is limited I suspect. After all we will be able to play Dark Knights who use Darkness as their primary power.
Hey wait.... if there is a Warrior of Darkness to balance out the Warrior of Light, does that mean that there may be a... Gentleman of Darkness?!? New nemesis for Hildibrand!

I would like add to this thread that the French version has a very different wording and I do not know which one is closer to the Japanese version. Maybe someone can give more details on that.
In the French Version, the voice says: ''The WoL has become too strong and that his power rival those of the gods. It is time for the WoD and his peers to enter the battle.''
I feel like the way he says it... We are becoming something akin to an antagonist and oddly extremely powerful for some reasons... But the voice could also speak of a new WoL(A new NPC or maybe Minfilia who was called by the crystal of light for ''something'') and that the protagonist becomes the WoD in the end to fight what he could have become. But if we are to remain the WoL(Which I find rather boring in my opinion considering Midgardsormr went to great lenghts to sap of of our Blessing(Or maybe curse) of Light), the WoD could very well be Alphinaud too. A close friend becoming a nemesis is very common in these kinds of stories.
A lot of potential for a great story here! ... But also a lot of potential to remain cliché and meh.![]()
My only issue is How on earth does the WoL become more powerful? Like.. Hydaelyn is sorta fading out last time I checked, and even with a renewed Blessing (As we see a bright and new circle around the WoL in the trailer) no way the power is strong enough to "Rival those of the gods". Heck even if it is, for how long? Like, we did a few really cool things before Hydaelyn had to tap out, she's back to the point of communication, but I heavily doubt she's got that much power by the end of 3.0. The WoL having power to rival gods seems like glass cannon or the Ascians manipulating some chosen "heros" (The WoD) as they're apt to do (Look at how Teledji acted at the thought of the Echo and how it managed to "charm" Ishgard).

Obviously some serious shiet will occur during the new MSQ. I can hardly wait.My only issue is How on earth does the WoL become more powerful? Like..
