Lootmaster: The Greatest Abuse tool.

Something I want to call to attention for those worried about people trying to abuse the system:

Nobody can 'sneak' this loot rule on you. It's right there when your queue pops. Greed Only and Lootmaster will also never appear unless the party is complete (either a full roster, or doing the 'go in without sync as a partial group'). If you are entering content via Duty Finder, you will continue to use the traditional distribution rules (Need/Greed)

If you've got an agreement in chat beforehand about loot distribution and the loot master breaks that agreement, you have every right to report them to SE. If you're worried, make sure it's clear as day in chat logs before you go.

The discussion has long since derailed, but to address the threadstarter's worry about things such as DKP system for awarding loot:

It's always a good thing to look into a free company's background and description before joining. Those who already have FC statics, talk it over with your members before you start any raids.

Having been someone in a static who accidentally hit need on a piece of loot that I was supposed to hit greed on, I think Lootmaster is a very positive thing. For 7/8 statics filling the last spot through PF it's also a very positive thing. If you are a random joining a 7/8 static with lootmaster enabled I highly doubt they are going to lock you out on any drops that you would normally be able to hit the need button.

There's no point to the "don't join" mentality. Just make sure you clarify the loot rules up front on what you will and will not have a shot at. Then, if they renege on whatever agreement you strike they can be reported. Personally, I think lootmaster is going to become the norm in PF groups, and as long as the party leader is up front with how they intend to distribute loot and sticks to their word, there won't be a problem.

2) Expect that Lootmaster will be "the norm" and that they will have "no choice" but to go along with it.

One thing people who are super paranoid about this can do is ask that the loot rules be explained completely in chat. This gives you something enforceable later if you have to file a GM ticket.

Let me be clear about this.. in the history of this system abuse is not common, but also not unheard of. It does happen. Having the option is good, but any time you're going with a group of strangers, you should clarify as much as possible, as publicly as possible, ahead of time.
