Check out this FATE guide for the best areas to go.
If you play alot its easily doable to get to 50 in a week, though because of the daily duty roulettes the more days it takes to level the less total time you'll spend doing it.

FATES are very quick, especially if FATE groups are running. when leveling NInja I could not get a que (it was like a 2 hours wait). If FATES are spawning at a good rate though you far exceed the experience for the same amount of time in a dungeon. It all really depends on the situation you are in though. You of course always do your challenge log (all items that apply) and do your hunting log. just be vigilant and get to every FATE and don't get lazy or it will just take you longer. Level isn't sexy or fun but there is an art to it. Hello Quarrymill for new jobs at 30...that area is going to be sooooo packed.

is there powerlvling in this game?
Not in the strictest sense.
But there are ways to farm exp faster for example: you can get a party, enter dzemael darkhold, clear first room, then exit and rinse and repeat - apparently its insane exp.
How long does it take from 1 to 50? Depends on how often you play really. If you play heaps, I'd say less than a week? That said, you will burn out - I remember bringing drg from 45 to 50 in a day and I was so exhausted at the end.
Also re dungeons, just an advice based on personal experience - it is *great* exp if you have sufficient rested exp bonus but without that, I think FATEs are probably better.
That said, if it is a healer/tank class you are level-ing, maybe it is better to take it slowly so at max level you are at least decent in your job. I have met whm at 50 who doesn't know that shroud of saints regenerates mp.

I don't think hunting log will work. I mean, didn't the new job will come as it is without having base class? And if I remember correctly, hunting log is based on class not job?
You can power level between 1-15 im not sure if its possible at higher levels i've never tried. Basically a high level WHM puts regen on a low level player they arent in a party with. Then they attack mobs which agro the healer, the healer then holy's them to death and the low level player gets all the exp. It gets you to about 15 in 20 - 30 mins.
This is pretty much it. Run fates in between dungeons as well. I like to keep it fresh, alternating doing fates one day and leves the next. If its heals or tanks, and you are 41 or higher, go for SV or better. Use food and fc exp buffs. If you still have some 2.55 or less main story to do, they will be giving out double exp in the new expansion.Queue for Dungeons.
Do the Low Level Roulette.
Do each Guildhest at least once, also do the Guildhest Roulette, may not seem like much but a Guildhest is only a couple of minutes long anyway.
Do FATEs.
Do what Challenge Log you can.
Do Levequests.
Dungeons are best IMO. Especially if you can score a friend to Queue with who is a Tank or Healer (Or both if you have enough friends)
