Just going to point out that W-sitting, aka Wariza (割座), is the traditional informal sitting style for Japanese women, so at least since the Raen are from Doma, it kinda makes sense for the females to use it.

That... actually does make sense. For the Raen, at least. I suppose if you're brought up to sit like that, you can do it more easily and it's more comfortable, lol.

Where even was it stated Au Ra females are supposed to be someone you want to protect? I went looking for a source but I couldn't find one anywhere in english.
Good... question, actually. I've never seen an official source.
Best guess is one of the Super Nico FATEs, which are A) broadcasted on Nico Nico Douga, B) not archived or translated, and C) only have information gleaned from them internationally by fans who translate what they catch and post up on social media.
It's how we know the Au Ra were patterned after demons, not dragons.

The only outright statement I can find on Au Ra being moeblobs is this summary of the GameWatch interview during the European tour. Translation seems fishy though, considering that another translation contradicts it on points like the Succubi image of female Au Ra. First guy did admittedly warn for mistakes as well.
That said, I suppose the full game will tell us the whole basic personality of female Au Ra!
We've gotten a lot of conflicting information even on that though! Like the whole Race_Dragon thing with their concept art suggests otherwise.
Ultimately, their mannerisms convey a certain look and IMHO it's pretty in line with that "Moe"
Still wishing SE did clan differences >_>
Yep, never actually heard it from Yoshida during lives event. May have been in some interview though.
But well, I would like more choices for races reactions and poses. It's not like cute is in the genes of a race. Lalafell and miqo'te got almost overly cute pose and stuff for everythings, but don't really fit characters like Y'shtola or Lolorito.
What I know for sure about the Xaela is they are a wild and warring race, I would find it weird if we got only moe option for said warriors.
Especially since the Au'ra I intend to play look like this ^^'

... but, though the second one is much clearer that the first, it's still translated from (probably) Japanese, and there's no direct translation for moé. "Reserved and shy" could be the best the translator could come up with. I don't mind if they have shy and reserved body language (I'm pretty shy and reserved myself...), but I'll be just a tad miffed if all their body language was designed with moé in mind. I understand it's a Japanese game by Japanese developers and that's popular in Japan... but it still aggravates me.
Maybe overreacting. We (still, gods-dammit!) don't know how they function in society or what any of their emotes are like beyond the ones in the Benchmark and the W-sit (which, does make sense for the Raen, at least). Still, signs are not favorable. Not going to stop me (my Auri woman will protect you, not the other way around), but it's still just a little unsettling.
The Race_Dragon was from a piece of concept art... I don't take that at face value. Plus the official website neither outright confirms nor denies their relationship to dragons...We've gotten a lot of conflicting information even on that though! Beginning to wish they had done clan differences at this point as well (if only for emotes), but well, what's done is done. I understand why they didn't, but if the Xaela are supposed to be rough-and-tumble tribal nomads it really doesn't make much sense for them to have the moé-flavored mannerisms of the Raen.

The thing is the Race_Dragon (Specifically like this one! http://livedoor.blogimg.jp/umadori07...5/c5d55c96.jpg ) has the closest design to the current thing. Either way! We don't really know for sure, and it's still up in the air.
At this point I wish they'd do one of two things. Add a third clan that doesn't look so moe with the women (Highly unlikely, I know but a girl can dream can't she?) or in a future patch make it so I could as least have a little toggle switch for the Xaela to have tough emotes or cutesy ones along with greater height options and a muscle slider (Also highly unlikely, but a girl can still dream!)
Like I've said before, I really don't mind if they're cute, or comparatively lacking in stature or body mass. It's actually more sensible than the males. What I do mind is their body language saying nothing but "I'm too weak to protect myself, so can you please protect me?" ... or at least, what we've seen of it thus far.At this point I wish they'd do one of two things. I don't mind if there are cute females in the game. That's totally OK. When their whole design concept is "How moé can we make them?", then it starts to bother me. Inherently moé appearances can be overcome with clever design; body language, on the other hand, cannot.
Here's hoping the rest of their emotes aren't saccharine and cutesy...
