I think the real problem is the FFXIV servers are in Japan and the latency for EU/US players is quite bad. It would make sense to host servers outside of Japan but I guess that won't happen until the game becomes profitable (if at all).

That would be true if we were talking about lag. But lag doesn't cause a circle to turn into a 3-point triangle.

or like the OP stated imagine this problem at chocobo speeds.. i hope they fix this with the next patch because they realize how bad this will make game play with chocobos...

To fix this, they would simply need to increase the frequency at which player positioning is updated.

i hope they do and keep the servers cool at the same time.. i wouldn't mind regularly scheduled maintenance on the servers every week or twice a week if need be, CoH did back when i played that mmo. if they can just increase it..

until they fix this don't expect to see me in any of those areas lol

No, this would make FFXI unplayable as it was designed with 56k in mind, and we all know that isn't true (those who actually play the game and not just type a google search and read a bad review by someone else who doesn't play it.)
yeah i played FFXI for about 5 years and would dual box for the last 3 years of that.... never had an issue in FFXI, WoW or Rift come even close to the latency issues this game has.
15 abilities each? what is this... Kindergarten?A jack of all trades WHM... what is this 1989?
