Sometimes the problem isn't the tank. I've been in various dungeons where the Tank tries to mass pull but before he/she can even finish establishing his aggro the healer is already spam healing him, but yea as long as the tank and healer has an understanding on how their going to handle mobs and when to heal etc then it should be fine. When I had my previous toon which was a tank I dont do mass pull very often except when I was in Brayflox Hard and I tend to use Shield Lob then Flash, then moved on to the next pack and do the same but adding a 2nd flash then do my normal rotation while flashing every 2 rotations that I finish.

Because part of it is to take as little damage as possible to reduce stress on the healer. You run right into the middle of mobs instead of cutting the edge and lobbing one of them (you will have enough tp back by 2nd pack for a lob) and you just got yourself smacked 3 times, you cut the corner as tight as possible you likely got hit once.

If I see a tank does this, one of my fingers are already on Bene or Lustrate.

Because I know when he stops, he's going to turn around (0.3 secs), get his position (0.3~ secs) and if he hasn't gotten his buffs up (0.5~ secs) and THEN he starts spamming his agro mech (0.1 secs).

In that one second lag, there's like at least 8 enemies hitting him and eating his health away. Not to mention AoEs. And I can't heal/Eye/regen him at all.

I do this all the time as a WAR with the understanding that no one's generating enmity during pulls. When I've gathered what I feel like, I'll OP the group. Usually works fine.

MNK has a very slow build up to effectively damage a big group on speed runs. So I like to start building the GL with Fist of Wind while running. If done well, I would be at least on GL2 by the time the Tank arrives the break point. But if the aggro was poorly stablished they would lose mobs to me before we arrive at the right place... and throw all to hell.

Yup, maybe Im at fault for that so I try to alternate mobs while running as well... but if only one has the proper aggro... its not enough...

Its pretty cool when I get paired with a tank that can keep aggro on things even while we are running tho. Makes me think, "this bastard is one frigging badass!!!"

Keep your MNK happy, please D:

Edit: of course I dont do this if I see the Tank isn't geared up for the task or just doesnt have the skills for it :/

Actually as a healer I don't agree at all, if you can gain enemity on all mobs, great, if not no big deal. I am not healing while you pull. Or a may do it but I am doing it with understanding of the consequences and will run the random 1-2 mobs up to the tank when he stops, usually I am on their heels anyways.

The real lesson is that the tank needs to make sure they don't need a heal during the pull. If it is a pally and they drop to 25% while gathering mobs, I expect cooldown use and maybe even a hallowed ground to give time to stabilize. So yes if the tank needs massive healing while gathering mobs, it is a tank issue. But the root cause is not face pulling, it is a tank not knowing their limitations or how to adequately do a large pull.

Edit: also there is responsibility of the healer to use cooldowns, not heal while gathering mobs and be ready for the large pull. Large pulls are a group effort and my post is not intended to place sole accountability on the tank. Merely to point out that face pulling is fully appropriate and not the root of the issue if a large pull isn't successful.

Ugh, tanks that don't tag everything and take damage.. since there's no actual way to tell a fairy not to autoheal (except to unsummon it), I have to run while spamming "heel" to interrupt her casts. That being said, I like to save swiftcast to drop a shadow flare when the pull stops, not to put up stoneskin during the pull. Works great with a tank that knows what they're doing. The "stop to poke mobs for 2 seconds then run on" types kinda interfere with this, though.. I don't like erratic/unpredictable pullers, either.

(I don't complain at the tanks though, and at most I just won't comm them. I am also perfectly happy to heal single/small pulls since then I can switch to baning dots instead of dropping the shadow flare and switching to heal).

It's absolutely no effort to Tomahawk/Flash mobs as you pass. If you don't do that, you're lazy. It lets healers heal/Stoneskin you as you pull, and that's useful because some mobs are faster than you, or are ranged, or you just can't avoid running through them.

I used to just lob 1 mob each group at about 5-8 groups before stopping scorn flash rampart or other buff then maybe two more flashes, Then I occasionally see trigger happy dpsers attacking everything in range so now I lob and flash all mobs in each group I of mobs I pull still do 6-8 groups at a time though because the aoe dpsers will die if they get agro while your mass pulling mobs and it will be your fault for not tanking.

Dont be a spaz healer then.

Flash as you run by them and that is fine. Healer shouldnt be healing when grp is running!!!
