    Mass pulls: don't do this.

The circled target has only proximity enmity. Don't do mass pulls like this. You are running through the pack already, at the very minimum drop a Flash or Overpower. For spread-out packs, PLD can Lob one, Spirits Within on the second and Lob the third again, without stopping at all. If you have to stop to build enmity then move to the next pack, you can do better.

Please don't mass pull without establishing proper enmity on every target. Proximity enmity is not proper enmity.

You should be doing it so that the healer has no problem giving you regen and Swiftcast Stoneskin mid-pull. Other tanks are doing it. You can, too.

Having no enmity on some of the enemies is fine as long as your healer isn't a spaz who heals you before you're done the pull. Stopping to hit everyone is either a huge TP sink (lobs) or will make you eat a lot of unnecessary hits and make you need heals before the pull is done, kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

You can Thrill/Second Wind near the end of your pull to throw out a bit of aggro on everything you've pulled too, it's something that will ward off Regen aggro.

I disagree.. If OP is talking about paladin, then there wont be TP sink for using shield lob to every single mob while running, unlike warrior, paladin uses MP to gain mob's enmity.. A paladin may even use sprint so mobs wont hit when mass pulling..

No, OP is right. As a healer I've had too many experiences where tanks do mass pulls without generating any enmity and all I can do is stand there and watch them die.

The problem is when the tank gets down to 50%, then 25% HP, and cure II takes 2 seconds plus about a half second length animation to heal. Sooner or later (often before enmity has been properly established), as Cutie McSnuggles said, you have to either heal the tank or watch them die.

No. Either learn how to do your job and pull correctly like other PLD's and WAR's can or find another job. It is not up to healers to stress because we can't regen or cure and save your ass (or the rest of the party) because you failed to pull correctly (and do your job) because all the mobs are not correctly aggro'ed, while you're down to 1-2k hitpoints.

If all mobs are not red, you're not doing your job pulling.

I never regen during pulls but i still agree that tanks always should get some threat on the mobs, this allows the healer to reapply stoneskin between packs making it easier to just cure 2 + regen followed by holy spam once all mobs are pulled.

When i tank i normally tomahawk followed by an overpower or flash depening on how the mobs are standing. unless you stick around longer then nessesary you shouldnt take more damage then normally, atleast not when doing overpower.
The regen during pulls can be quite annoying sometimes if the ticks comes just as you tomahawk/bodypull since the other mobs will run toward the healer forcing you to stop/backtrack for a second to get threat on them (moving mobs + the server lag..) wich in return allows the previous pulled mobs to hit you. So i'd suggest sticking to stoneskin/adlo only.

I have both tanks and both healers, most of the time I tank on PLD, if mobs are close enough for a flash then I run trough them and flash, if not I lob first and depending on position of the rest and distance to the next pack I lob a second or not, either way I do not expect a healer to heal me during the pull and I always pop some strong CD after a bigger pull so the healer can catch up easily (sentinel / hallowed ground).
If a healer casts regen or medica 2 pre pull I simply cancel the buff, I expect healers to give me only stoneskin / adlo / eye, tagging everything is sometimes inefficient because PLD has 2.5s GCD so even if you lob the first mob you have to stop and turn around twice to lob other two and you take 2k unnecessary damage in the process. Besides I usually pop a sprint before I pull so I don't have TP to lob 3 targets anyway.

I would say both ways of pulling are fine since they work, first way where you tag everything is more annoying for tank and you take extra damage while doing so, but healer can heal you, while the other way is faster, you take less damage, but healer cant heal you, until you stop and establish aggro on everything.

Not even regen just a stoneskin or even e4e the moment they come to stop is helpful in keeping them alive and I've seen tanks come to a stop and even then not use a single aoe enmity move until their health is at like 20%... yeah you're dying there and then.

Tanks have to build some hate as soon as possible, using flash (as a war, so it's saving tp for when the pull is done), or circle of scorns/shield lobs (as a pld, since you only need mp when doing mass pull).

Alternately, if you are running low tp/mp (your bad btw, you have to be able to save some for the next pull to come), or if you're really greedy about tp/mp waste, since every single buff does generate some hate, you can use some while pulling to lock monsters on you, for ex as a pld you can use awareness or tempered will (that are close to useless as themselves in dj).

It 'd prevent monsters to flee toward heal immediatly after the first regen/ swift cast/stoneskin. Of course you have to establish proper hate using flash on your pull as soon as possible, as buffs generate very little.
