After discovering what role moogles played in this game, I truly felt dissapointed at the miniscule role moogles were given this time around. I was almost sure that with the announcement of our beloved Akihiko Yoshida at the helm as art director that I might finally be able to witness an MMO introduction of the masterfully designed Ivalice Moogle. In my head, there was nothing stopping them from becoming a playable race. I mean, what Final Fantasy fan wouldn't want to play as a moogle or at least see them implemented in this regard fighting side by side with them?
Remember this little April Fool's joke? Damn you Zam!
Until recently, I had simply to conclude with jaded acceptance that there was no way our current tiny furball moogles could ever be playable characters, not to mention how rarely they even appear (wtf devs, wtf). And so, given that we now have our great and wonderful YoshiP leading the way with such open arms and ears to our ideas, there may still be a glimmer of hope that he might see some interest in this idea along with all the others he has already seen the light on.
My Proposal: Implementation of a new Mog race akin to Akihiko Yoshida's Ivalice Moogle character design.
Main/Obvious Dilemma: Moogles as we know them in FFXIV are small, aerial enchanted puffballs that are rarely seen by common folk. It would be against lore and there is no way they could be a playable race in this form.
Possible Resolutions:
The simplest and best (imo) route would simply be for SE to write a Mog race in as a distant cousin race of regular moogles. Their connection to how they are related to regular moogles reaches far enough back to only be able to theorize it as simple evolution branching in a different direction. Mogs would/could be a race that (much like regular moogles) prefer to stay hidden and out of the affairs of the world. Be it not for impending doom on their entire tribe, they decide it is best to become involved and begin trying to help the rest of the region/races fight to save Eorzea. They could come from a nearby island (tropical jungle, cold northern, southern outback?), and would be highly proficient in engineering, inventing, gadgeteering, and machining (simultaneous introduction of Machinist/Gadgeteer [Edgar FF6] class/job!). Damnit SE, do it!

These concepts are simple and extremely plausible. It would easily introduce us to geographically discover new races. This also proposes a perfect segway with more hi-tech lore since Mogs could easily usher in the role of inventors/engineers/gadgeteers as new classes coinciding with Eorzean lore... especially with back-burner ideas such as Magitek Armor (future mounts), they could be responsible for the introduction of magitek weapons like the Gunblade. Seriously, how much more Final Fantasy can it get?!
The fact that we have Highlanders as a sub-race to Hyurs allows the lore to implement moogles as a (playable) sub-race as well. This could fit so perfectly in current lore as well as give Moogles/Mogs a rightful place in this game instead of the backseat they've been given thus far. The FFXIV devs are a talented bunch and could take this idea and create something real with it. Please LIKE this thread and comment with more ideas so we can really catch YoshiP's eyes and ears (it worked for the missing genders, plus he's asking for more racial ideas!) so let your imaginations run wild y'all! Lets get this snowball rolling till it crashes into Yoshi's office and explodes into a million tiny moogles raining down on his desk.
