Please Allow 50's to Enter Ishgard w/o having completed MSQ

While i will say doing it in under a week would require more effort, i could see it being done-especially if during the weekend of that week the player binged played the game. The toughest thing, actually the only tough thing about the MQ is just staying focused while the denizens of Eorzea continually mistake you for their personal manservant. If you can keep at it, you can fly through it, ques are only on the long side for a couple of instances.

My 3rd time through the MSQ, I completed it (along with all other content required to open the roulettes, ie. hildibrand and gearing up to i110) in 7-8 days of straight focusing on it and skipping 95% of the cutscenes. That was about a month ago. So, yes, it is very easily possible.

*edit* The majority of the "time wasting" for me was simply waiting for people to join the Q's I needed to finish hehehe

I am glad you have to level a battle class to 50. I know someone with 7 alts that have lvl 10 battle classes that she bots with. She is quite pissed with this. She has also posted in this topic lol. This puts her out of business for new gathering nodes until she catches up.

You reported her immediately for admitting to bot usage and violating ToS correct? It is people like this that create problems for the game and economy as a whole.

Personally I think it's another misstep in a long history of missteps. A new expansion is an opportunity to put everyone on a more-or-less level playing field. Welcome new\returning players into the game and all tackle new content together. That won't happen with this game because so much stuff is gated behind old events. I'm not sure if SE just is trying to control the population by making unpopular decisions or if they really believe that new players (and crafters, for that matter) should be gated from new content they they paid for, but it's a questionable position to take.

You realise that when we started the game we were 'gated' from coil right? We were 'gated' from CT, too. We were also 'gated' from the ex primals. Exp roulette? Also 'gated' behind unlocking dungeons through MSQ and side quest completion.

Actually come to think of it 'gating' as you describe it is a staple of every RPG ever made (both single player and online). When you buy an RPG at the store do you complain that you are 'gated' from fighting the final boss as soon as you start?

It is a fundamental concept of RPGs and MMOs that content is unlocked via some form of progression system. This is how we measure progress in the game. To do what you are asking would be to make the game an entirely pointless chaotic mess with no sense of progression.

You are gated from "new content that you paid for" the second you set foot into your respective nation. This is a game that is built around progression, gates are essential by design. Without gates you wouldn't have a sense of progress, and without a sense of progress you would be complaining that nothing seems worthwhile, and there's nothing to do.

This thread is not about "new players", that's just a straw-man. You guys just sound bitter about not being able to get into Ishgard with your crafting mules, and RP alts.

It's been pointed out time and time again that you will gain boosted exp from the story. What took nearly a month of consistent play to complete will now take at LEAST half that time. If you want your alts in Ishgard just power through it when HW drops. You'll even get some bonus exp from the level 50 quests.

A million times this.

The only people complaining are people with alts that they want to jump into Ishgard with. I imagine many of them are people intending to circumvent the specialist system by having multiple crafters with different specialisations. Stop pretending this anything at all to do with new players and admit that this is all entirely motivated by personal laziness.

It's nice that people are finally starting to drop the 'think of the newbies' flag... only to pick up the 'what we all paid for' flag. Sadly, neither flag changes anything. Yes, we all paid for the coming content. Yes, we all paid for the game many times over by now. What seems to be missed here is the 'we'. WE all paid for the same content under the same conditions with the same gates and requirements. Heavensward isn't changing any of that. At all. We who bought Heavensward still have to go through all the same gates and requirements as those who haven't. That is the 'we' that's being glossed over. Again, as has been said, if you didn't want to kill Ifrit, Titan, Garuda, King Moggle Mog XII, Leviathan, Shiva and a giant dragon, then why should you have access to content those that were willing to will?

Please do everyone on your server a favor and report this person. This kind of behavior and attitude ruins game economies, and is the biggest problem with RMT. Actual players who engage in this behavior deserve zero sympathy.
