I'd like the stat bonuses to either be tweaked to be far more significant. Or, remove them entirely.

Looks to me like a luxury we do not need.

Removing the main stats would just swap some stats out for others. You literally would not be adding any new options.
As it is, almost any Job has only two effectual options: main damage stat & vitality. That's it.
You'd have better variety with secondary stats & more to work with, especially when swapping out gear pieces & the sort.
Piety whm right here actually. And as was mentioned earlier, if you went secondary you'd still only have two options. Crit or det for most dps. I get that you probably personally want to put all your points into crit or something and you're mad that you can't, but making the stat allocation secondary based doesn't change much at all.
1) I said, "almost any."
2) And I already countered that point earlier... so yeah.
3) Critical & Skill/Spell-Speed each have soft caps, Accuracy has a hard-cap... so there'd be reason to interchange sometimes, especially with gear swapping.
4a) Critical & Determination are more often go-to's, sure... but this still doesn't negate the fact that you'd have more workable options under this system vs. the current.
4b) Critical & Determination, just because they're frequently the best option, doesn't mean that players always desire to play the 'min-max' game... some people prefer to experiment or try alternatives out. Secondaries give better freedom for that.
5) Piety should also remain an option, I forgot to include it... even though it is considered a primary attribute. So there's that.
6) PVP is a whole different ballgame which would benefit greatly from the swap... it's BiS stats are far less regimented & 'min-max-y'... you have more viable stat-build options or ways of playing (e.g. both Crit WAR & SS WAR have great merit).

I would personally rather they had all of them, not just the secondary skills. Removing primaries is a bad idea, imo. But adding secondaries is not.
All wouldn't work without reworking stats as the stat-weights for str/dex/int/mnd are far greater than those of the secondaries.
It'd be interesting if they rebalanced all the stats to hold near-equivalent weights... only problem is that strength/determination/intelligence/mind are such boring stats.
At least there's something more enticing to have periodical big hits or accelerated combat.
Part of the issue is how dull our stat-options currently are... but that's a whole different beast.
It'd be nice if they added regenerative stats (e.g. TP regain rate & so forth) like Spirit from WoW... though, I'd almost prefer they folded that function into current Speed stats so you're not TP starved for building Skill-Speed & such.
On the other hand, finding the appropriate balance of haste:regen stat balancing would create a more interesting dynamic & add another layer to current gear which I feel would benefit the game.

That's not really a fair comparison considering chocobo while in queue would promote multi-tasking that would otherwise leave the player sitting there waiting on queue as usual.
Changing the stat accumolation so you can change your secondary stats... I mean hell, dude, that's what materia melding is for.
