Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Eald'narche the last boss in RoZ, Promathia in CoP, and Kam'lanaut/Eald'narche in Apocalypse Night?
I'm afraid that I don't really see how this is in any way a large or excessive -- even moderately difficult change to make. The assets are already in place. The technology has already been researched and developed. There's honestly nothing precluding them from using the extant achievement system to indicate you are capable of advancing beyond that model. Of course, this is all moot if the MSQ has been adjusted to make it vastly faster to level only doing it and carrying forth into 2.55, but that's dependent largely on again that change being as powerful as it is reported to be.
In an MMO, it is never a bad idea to make customers feel appreciated. Jaded companies are companies you stop feeling affectionate toward.
Ah, right... my bad. You stop them from trying it all over again. Still, contrary to what was posted, you don't need to even go barely any length into Zilart to start Promathia. Promathia starts as soon as you enter Delkfutt's for the first time.
I seriously can't read enough of this thread at work to keep up with how many responses have been added...
I'm about 130 responses in and I have heard this "it will keep RMT out of our areas" excuse used over and over.
....Do y'all think that RMT will be unable to spam our /whisper and send us friend requests because they can't access Heavensward if they are gated by MSQ? Idga *flying* f if I don't see bot armies in HW. I want them to stop spamming my channels. I never turned /shout off. RMT don't use /shout in my server much any longer. They only need a mailbox and /whisper.
I could care less about the MSQ gate honestly...but for all you thinking RMT won't bother you any longer or be able to mine/bot HW new items because of MSQ gates into Ishgard....
Well, I guess when I'm done with the initial HW giddy surge-binge of content I'll have something to /popcorn about in the forums![]()

Heck, I'm on the side of keeping the restriction but I don't understand where the rmt argument is coming from either.
I'm gonna assume it's a false flag operation by the people against the lockout in order to make the keep-the-lockout people look stupid; for no reason except because that theory entertains me.
When in doubt, assume sarcasm
Yeah, and do you know how annoying it was starting a new character, zoning into Dumbutt's Tower, and getting cutscenes when you didn't expect them?
Ugh, the worst was zoning into Port Jeuno and getting Bad Fanfiction, I mean, A Crystalline Prophesy, started on a character whose sole purpose was to pass out Dynamis hourglasses....
Why do we need achievements to carry over to alts anyways? What -exactly- is the benefit of doing this? No achievement gained earns you anything actually beneficial in the game besides titles, mounts, and minions. I wouldn't say it is easy to just put it in there like that, I am sure there are more complexities to adding a system like this than what is to be believed. It is resources that you have to pull someone who is likely working on something more important to come in and work on/implement. Also, I do think you should have to do the MSQ like if you were playing a new character. There is little to no benefit leveling an alt besides inventory space and if you use it to help fill spots in raids, which even then has seen changes here and there.I'm afraid that I don't really see how this is in any way a large or excessive -- even moderately difficult change to make. I think the system is fine as it is. I won't complain if it changes, but if people truly want a 2nd character to play, they should put as much effort as they did the first one. I have not seen a really good reason why SE should give people access to everything on an alt right from the get-go.
To get the relic weapon though you need to have a basic geared level 50 DoM/W and complete dungeons and trials as well as kill several mobs (for the basic relic). The only thing stopping a player at that point from doing the MSQ is themselves, not the leveling process.
You're missing what I was saying and I have to imagine intentionally at this point? I said the achievement would be shared, as in, "You've finished 2.55!" and all of your characters have it so they wouldn't be gated on dungeons, etc. You've yet to actually provide a reason why gating is required more than once. Your statement is invariably, "alts are just good for inventory space and that's all that matters." I don't really see the merit to this argument or what it adds to the discourse beyond repeating yourself.
You have yet to state how this improves the game at all, how SE benefits from it, or why you feel it is a bad change.
