Sounds like were just getting less items to craft (so just from basic to finished) and then less things stacked against you for succeeding at low/mid level.
We'll know more in a few days on that though I hope.
Crafting is no more or less random than any system in the game. If you're crafting a reasonably ranked item, have training/guild support when required, and use your abilities/wait consistently, you have nearly complete control of the outcome of your craft.
If you don't like the system, that's one thing. But to claim it's "random BS" when it's in all honesty a fairly complex minigame is outright stupidity.
Those who took the time to learn the system and consider it gameplay as opposed to a means to an end know it isn't random BS. You have a LOT of control. Yes, you will not HQ everytime just because you get 300 quality, but that's just smart game design. However, between understanding orb states, the classification of the item you are synthing, the abilities you use, stating correctly, wearing gear to optimize control, craftsmanship, or magic craftsmanship, deciding to use main or off hand depending on if you want high yield or high quality results.... I really don't need to go on here, it is largely controlled by skill of the crafter and the decisions he or she makes. There is a definite difference between a good crafter and those that just craft in this game. In my opinion, the XIV crafting system is the best crafting system ever to be seen in any MMO.
It will be interesting how they plan to add new recipes with good stats without making the Dezmael Darkhold obsolete. Since you can't gear swap in this game there's no point to pieces that only have specific uses.
I still want to know how they plan to address the over supply in gathering, which will be made ten times worse by the removal of parts.
I also want to know why they removed guilds from crafting altogether. Way to go giving people even less reason to visit the other cities. Certainly the CRP guild always got me in Gridania every now and then to synth bows. Now I'll be able to just sit and spam them in Ul'dah near repair guy with everyone else on the server.

Yoshi said we will have more information on tuesday night so I'll be waiting for that to continue arguing. From what they said today, however, it looks like they are only going to be ripping the depth out the the beginning of crafting, which is not what they original said. Making the beginning overly simple is fine, it'll help people get into it.

I agree, but I still don't like the idea of parts going away, cause that sounds like it is across the board. We'll just have to see.
I agree that they shouldn't all go away but there isn't really a need for them at low levels. If he plans to make recipes get progressively more complicated I think we will end up with parts in higher level crafts still.
